Ripple CTO Issues Crucial Crypto Scam Alert to Community

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience in the cryptocurrency industry, I have come to learn that caution is always warranted when navigating this dynamic and often unpredictable landscape. The recent warning by Ripple CTO David Schwartz about a phishing scam targeting Unstoppable Domains users serves as yet another reminder of the need for vigilance.

David Schwartz, Ripple‘s Chief Technology Officer, has yet again alerted the community about a scam related to cryptocurrencies that specifically targets users of Unstoppable Domains. This warning was made in one of his routine posts on X, and he also shared another post containing the emails with the deceptive messages as an example.

No, Unstoppable Domains is not a token claim campaign

The post from David Schwartz stems from an email first shared by X user Arijit. In the post, an email was shared with Unstoppable Domains users, claiming a “$UDOM” token is officially live and up for claims.

This is a scam. Links go to scam domain program-unstoppabledomains . com, not the real domain.

As a researcher delving into the realm of domain services, I can attest to the prominence and pioneering status of Unstoppable Domains within our industry. In recent months, however, its media presence seems to have diminished somewhat. The speculation surrounding their utility token has undeniably stirred excitement among investors. Yet, it’s important to clarify that Arijit, another researcher in the field, has pointed out that there has been no formal announcement about this matter directly from the project itself, leaving room for further investigation and understanding.

The Ripple CTO confirmed this dubious attempt, highlighting that clicking the associated link would lead to the scam project’s website. Though some community members thought this was a mere attempt at banter, the message to beware of phishing links notably resounded.

Unrelenting crypto scam push

The digital currency ecosystem is evolving rapidly and so are the fraudsters operating on the market. While deceit is central to most crypto scams, Ripple’s CTO and other crypto executives have always warned users about the latest scams and how to stay safe.

In addition to phishing attacks, impersonation is another common strategy employed by scammers to deceive investors. Notable figures in the cryptocurrency world like David Schwartz, Brad Garlinghouse, and others frequently fall victim to such impersonations.

Due to the widespread use of advanced deepfakes by scammers, they’re becoming increasingly creative in an effort to make their deceptive schemes appear more genuine. Even with the market experiencing a dip, it seems that these fraudulent activities continue to persist, as indicated by the ongoing trend of Unstoppable Domains.
