In a move that surprised absolutely no one who’s been paying attention (and probably a few who haven’t), Ripple, the blockchain company that’s been making waves—pun very much intended—has snagged a shiny new license from Dubai’s financial regulators. 🏛️
This isn’t just any license, mind you. It’s the kind of license that lets Ripple play in the sandbox of the Dubai International Financial Centre, a place so fancy it probably has gold-plated ATMs. 💰
Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, was quick to chime in, declaring that the crypto industry is now in a period of “unprecedented” growth. Which, let’s be honest, is what every CEO says when they’re not busy dodging lawsuits or explaining why their company’s token just tanked. 📉
Garlinghouse also took a moment to praise the UAE for creating a “supportive environment” for crypto. Translation: “Thanks for not banning us, and also, can we borrow a camel?” 🐪
For those keeping score at home, Ripple set up shop in Dubai back in 2020, and this latest license brings their global tally to over 60 approvals. That’s a lot of paperwork, and probably a few trees sacrificed in the name of bureaucracy. 🌳
