Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm - How to Get Halcyon Seed

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the chaotic world of Risk of Rain 2, I can confidently say that the latest DLC has been nothing short of a thrilling ride. The new content, especially the three fresh Survivors, has added an exhilarating layer to an already challenging game. However, it’s the enigmatic character requiring the Halcyon Seed for unlock that has truly piqued my interest.

The latest downloadable content for Risk of Rain 2 has been unveiled (at the point when this text was written), brimming with fresh content for enthusiasts of the notoriously challenging high-speed roguelike genre to savor. Notably, there are three new characters to control, among which Seeker is the only one that comes unlocked initially. However, one character requires a unique method for unlocking, which involves the Halcyon Seed Item.

To maximize your chances of acquiring the secret third Survivor in Risk of Rain 2, you should aim to reach the Gilded Coast as quickly as possible, battle Aurelionite, and obtain the Halcyon Seed. Here’s a breakdown of how to get this item:

Where To Find The Halycon Seed

Head to the Gilded Coast & Fight the Titanic Goldweaver

Name Item Type Location Found Effect
Halcyon Seed Boss (Yellow) Gilded Coast Summon Aurelionite during the Teleporter Event. It has 100 percent damage and 100 percent health. Each stack of the item increases the damage and health by an additional 50 percent.

In the game Risk of Rain 2, there’s a secluded area known as the Gilded Coast, comparable to the Void Fields or the Void Locus, and it’s governed by a character named Aurelionite. This intricate golem construction was crafted by Prominence, who was subsequently imprisoned in this separate dimension (the Gilded Coast) by their sibling, Mithrix. The Halcyon Seed is believed to be Aurelionite’s essence or spirit, and upon acquiring it as an item, Aurelionite will become your ally during all subsequent Teleporter Events in that game session. Once the Teleporter Event concludes, the Halcyon Seed returns to your inventory.

To acquire the Halcyon Seed, you must first defeat Aurelionite at the Gilded Coast. This task requires you to purchase all seven Halcyon Beacons scattered around the Gilded Coast using in-game currency. Once you’ve bought the final beacon, Aurelionite will become temporarily vulnerable for a brief period. During this time, it’s best to inflict as much damage on them as possible.

If Aurelionite survives their vulnerable phase, they’ll become invulnerable and you’ll have to repurchase all the Beacons to make them susceptible again. Defeating Aurelionite will open a gateway out of the Gilded Coast, and either one or multiple Halcyon Seeds will drop as loot. Since the Gilded Coast is an area where time doesn’t progress, it’s often beneficial to collect the Halcyon Seed when given the chance. However, in the Seekers of the Storm DLC, it’s particularly crucial. For reasons we won’t disclose, you’ll need the Halcyon Seed as you navigate through the new green portals introduced in the DLC.

How To Reach The Gilded Coast

It’s Not Exactly Easy

Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm - How to Get Halcyon Seed

To reach the Gilded Coast, you’ll either need to get lucky and stumble across an Altar of Gold, spend some Lunar Coins to reach the Bazaar Between Time (and the Lunar Seer) or spend a lot of time in a run looping hoping to spawn into it. Most people would prefer the first method, but the second method is by far the most reliable way of getting here. For this method, you’ll want to go to the Bazaar Between Time using the Newt Altars as often as possible. When there, look at the Lunar Seer section of the Glass Newts Shop to see previews of the next possible stages. You can spend 3 Lunar Coins here to ‘lock in’ what your next stage will be (provided you don’t then head into the Void Fields), and the Gilded Coast has a small chance to appear at the Lunar Seer at any point. This is how most people reach the Gilded Coast in general, but that’s not the only way.

Essentially, the other ‘main’ method of getting to the Gilded Coast involves finding an Altar of Gold on any stage. These look incredibly similar to the Altars of Chance but are pure gold in color and material. They cost a ton of money to use (the amount depends on the difficulty and current duration of the run), but when purchased they will then cause a Gold Portal to spawn at the Teleporter after the Teleporter Event has completed which leads to the Gilded Coast. Just make sure to use this Altar before starting the Teleporter Event, as it becomes unusable afterward. The final method of reaching the Golden Coast is spawning into randomly it after teleporting to a new stage once you start looping during a run, but this method is the one that relies on random chance and time investment the most by far.
