Roger Ver Arrest Major Statement Made by Samson Mow

As a long-time crypto investor, I’ve seen my fair share of ups and downs in this volatile market. I’ve always kept an eye on the key players, and Roger Ver, also known as “Bitcoin Jesus,” was one of the early adopters whose influence shaped Bitcoin’s history.

Samson Mow, my boss at Jan3, has expressed his thoughts on the recent arrest of Bitcoin pioneer Roger Ver. Known as “Bitcoin Jesus,” Ver made headlines by advocating for Bitcoin Cash in place of Bitcoin in 2017.

Roger Ver arrested in Spain

A prominent Bitcoin backer and nicknamed “Bitcoin Jesus,” Roger Ver, has been taken into custody in Spain for allegedly evading significant tax obligations owed to the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Expert: In 2017, Ver reportedly sold Bitcoins valued at approximately $240 million through his businesses without paying the required taxes for that amount, resulting in a significant financial loss for the Internal Revenue Service, amounting to a minimum of $48 million.

Samson Mow, a notable critic of Ver in the Bitcoin community, has intensified his attacks against him following the publication of Ver’s latest work. Ver and Steve Patterson teamed up to pen “Hijacking Bitcoin: The Untold History of BTC,” which has sparked significant controversy.

Mow is not gloating over Ver’s arrest

As an analyst, I’d put it this way: This year, Ver announced the upcoming release of his book. Shortly after, Adam Back, the CEO of Blockstream and one of Bitcoin’s earliest adopters who communicated with Satoshi Nakamoto prior to his departure from public life, extended an invitation to Ver. The reason for this overture? With the halving on the horizon and spot Bitcoin ETFs already in circulation, Back encouraged Ver to reconsider his position within the Bitcoin sphere.

In the past, Mow expressed a preference for Roger Ver to cease his backing of Bitcoin Cash instead of continuing his support for Bitcoin.

After learning about Roger Ver’s arrest, Mow expressed on Twitter that he holds no affection for him, yet remains unmoved by the unfortunate turn of events: “I don’t hold Roger Ver in high regard, but I won’t rejoice over his misfortunes.”

I have no love for Roger Ver, but I won’t celebrate his misfortune.

Ver is now awaiting extradition to the U.S.

Roger Ver in similar situation as John McAfee

It’s intriguing how Roger Ver finds himself in a parallel predicament to John McAfee. The creator of McAfee Antivirus was apprehended in Spain in 2020, accused of significant tax evasion on his cryptocurrency earnings. Facing extradition to the US, he would have likely spent the remainder of his life imprisoned.

McAfee took his own life in a Spanish prison back in June 2021, an event that left many skeptical and sparked significant controversy, particularly among McAfee’s spouse.
