Near the end of the Totenreich Main Quest, you’ll need to get the Sunstone from the Dravakar Shard and take it to the Eidskallen Stave Church. This will start a tricky puzzle in the sky, featuring arrows, runes, and lots of Frost Zombies.
Here’s a simple guide to the runes puzzle, designed to help you solve it easily and progress toward the end of Totenreich’s main story.
To obtain the Sunstone and solve the rune arrow puzzle, you first need to acquire and cook a Dravakar Shard – you can find instructions on how to do that here. For a complete walkthrough of the rest of the main quest, see the full guide below.
How to Use the Sunstone in Totenreich
Once you’ve obtained the Dravakar Shard and defeated the Necropincer HVT, you can find the Sunstone at the bonfire in Blodheim Hall. Then, simply take the Sunstone to the Eidskallen Stave Church, which is located across from the Burial Grounds where you began the Jotunn Star quest.
You can put the Sunstone on the altar inside the Eidskallen Stave Church. Once it’s in place, you can activate it by hitting it with the Jotunn Star. This will shoot a beam of light into the sky. When you go outside and look up, you’ll see runes and arrows appear.
How to Complete the Runes Arrows Puzzle in Totenreich
- There are three arrows in the sky, and each of them is pointing at a unique symbol.
- The arrows are in a specific order from one to three, and you can tell the order by counting the lines through the arrows.
- For instance, the image above shows a green arrow with one line, meaning that the green arrow is pointing at your first symbol.
- The second arrow is blue and has two lines, meaning the blue arrow is pointing at your second symbol, and so on.
Okay, so after I got those three symbols memorized and figured out the right order, I had to run all over the map looking for these glowing bonfires. There were a bunch of them scattered around, each with a symbol floating above it. My job was to find the bonfire with my symbol and then light it up using a charged shot from the Jotunn Star. It was a bit of a scavenger hunt, honestly!
We activated the symbols in a specific order: V, then R, then P. We found each symbol on the map and lit it using the Jotunn Star, repeating this process for each one. When done correctly, all the arrows will point the same way.
Now that you’ve solved the rune arrow puzzle, you’re ready for the last part of the Totenreich Easter egg – the boss fight in Tyr’s Head! You can find a guide to help you beat the boss and choose the best weapons by clicking here.
