Should you accept or reject the Voice’s power in Avowed?

During the “Message From Afar” mission in Avowed, a cryptic voice unexpectedly invades my thoughts, presenting me with an enigmatic proposition. This unseen entity lays out an ultimatum with little context, leaving me to choose between embracing or rejecting this mysterious power they offer.

If you share similar tendencies as mine, I found myself pondering over this decision for quite a while, trying to gauge the reliability of this voice without a body and deciding if the power they offered was a fair trade for their terms. Just like any cautious role-playing game player would, I resorted to saving and reloading multiple times to discover the optimal choice.

Should you accept or reject the Voice’s power?

The Voice will hint at granting you a mysterious power to both mend others and receive healing yourself, but they expect your aid in response. Making this decision will unlock the supernatural ability you’ll acquire immediately.

  • If you accept the Voice’s power, you will get the Dream Touch Godlike ability
  • If you reject the Voice’s power, you’ll get the Godlike’s Will ability instead

In simpler terms, using Dream Touch can restore health to surrounding allies and inflict continuous damage on Delemgan, Dreamthralls, and Vessels. This is particularly useful in situations where your companions are injured, as it allows for a quick recovery without having to go through an extended revival process.

With Godlike’s Blessing, you receive an extra Skill Point that you can instantly use to enhance your Fighter, Ranger, or Wizard abilities. This added advantage may not seem significant, but it could prove invaluable if there’s a specific skill you’re eager to acquire right away.

On multiple occasions in the future, you’ll encounter the enigmatic voice within your consciousness. During your adventures or even in your dreams at night, it intrudes with requests for favors or offers of power that you must deal with. You will have chances later on to strengthen your bond with it or distance yourself from it more. The situation is reminiscent of the struggle in Baldur’s Gate 3 when deciding whether to yield to the allure of the Illithid powers, always questioning if this entity is fundamentally good or evil. However, your interactions with the enigmatic voice will significantly impact the conclusion of Avowed, so be aware that this initial decision is not your last one.
