Solana (SOL) Outages Might Soon Be Over, Here’s Reason

The Solana (SOL) blockchain may be overcoming its major congestion issue, as Anza, a validator client for Solana, has recently rolled out a significant update on the testnet. According to the Solana client validator, this solution was introduced in version 1.18.11 and they encouraged developers within the ecosystem to upgrade and begin testing the fixes.

Solana, as its leaders explain, is currently facing issues due to its own accomplishment. Originally designed as a fast-performing blockchain, Solana’s executives didn’t predict the heavy traffic it would experience over the past year, resulting in network congestion and occasional outages. To tackle this predicament, cofounder Anatoly Yakovenko hinted that finding a long-term solution will require careful consideration of time.

In Anza’s recent update, some significant modifications have been introduced: the distinction between staked and non-staked data packets being transmitted and controlled, implementation of BankingStage Forwarding Filter, designating a default staked client in LocalCluster, and rectification of FailedVerification issues. However, these improvements have not yet been implemented on the main network. As developers experiment with these new features and share their feedback, Anza engineers will utilize this information to refine the solutions before releasing them on the mainnet.

Solana testnet validators: The new version 1.18.11 of Solana is now available on devnet. We advise you to update as soon as possible to assist us in examining the impacts of the suggested congestion improvements.

This significant update for the Solana protocol is noteworthy, indicating the possible termination of the frequent outages that have been an issue in recent times.

Can Solana learn from Ethereum?

Ethereum is one of the most functional blockchains around, and it achieved this tag because of its constant updates to enhance its performance. Over the past year, Ethereum has launched the Shanghai Upgrade and the Dencun Upgrade, and it is looking at launching the Electra Upgrade for network security and stability.

To ensure long-term solutions for Solana’s challenges, all proposed upgrades must undergo various testing stages. These tests strengthen the upgrades’ resilience before being made publicly available. In simpler terms, we need to thoroughly test each fix before implementing it to guarantee its effectiveness.
