Sony CEO Answers Question About the PS6
During Sony’s recent earnings call, CEO Hiroki Totoki addressed concerns about how current memory shortages and rising hardware costs might affect the PlayStation 6. He explained that Sony hasn’t yet determined the PS6’s release date or price, stating they’re closely monitoring the situation. Totoki also mentioned they’re exploring different sales strategies for the PS6, depending on how the market evolves, though he didn’t provide specifics. It remains to be seen what those strategies will be.

I’m actually hoping Sony holds off on a new PlayStation for a while. Even though the PS5 has been out for almost six years, it feels too soon for a new generation. The pandemic really disrupted the PS5’s launch and progress, so this generation feels like it’s just getting going. It will be interesting to see what the PS6 costs and whether people are willing to pay that price, whatever it may be.
