This franchise has been a favorite of mine since the initial release of “Shadow of Chernobyl” back in 2007, captivating me with its intricate gameplay and immersive world. As a player, I was drawn into the Exclusion Zone, tasked with solving mysteries and battling monstrous creatures. A pioneer in its genre, “STALKER” has set the stage for its sequel, “STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl,” to carry it forward into modern gaming. This long-awaited sequel has faced delays due to various reasons, but I can’t wait to finally step back into the Zone when it releases.
Exciting news for fans, the developer has once again postponed the launch of “STALKER 2”, now scheduled for a later date due to earlier announcements that were originally set for September 5, 2024. The original “STALKER” game, which established a unique atmosphere of a mysterious, distorted Zone, has served as an inspiration for numerous other games with similar themes. Over the years, there were four STALKER titles, each expanding its lore and characters, offering immersive, detailed adventures. The idea of a new installment was eagerly anticipated by many fans. However, the development of “STALKer 2” faced numerous challenges and unexpected setbacks since its initial announcement in 2010. Despite these obstacles, the project was consistently stated to be underway.
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the region where our studio previously operated faced significant disruptions, causing a necessary pause in development. After moving the studio to Prague, we managed to restart work on STALKER 2 with caution. However, there was a temporary setback following an NFT-related plan in 2021, which caused some backlash and eroded trust. Although this issue was later withdrawn, it had a lasting impact. Despite the challenges, development continued, and we announced a release date of September 5 earlier this year. This schedule remained consistent until our most recent update.
STALKER 2 Is Walking Into a Flurry of Fall 2024 Titles
In the thick of it all, the upcoming release of STALKER 2 falls within a bustling November schedule for video game launches. Historically a hectic time, the last quarter of the year also sees other highly anticipated games slated to come out around the same period.
