The adventure game Star Trek: Resurgence, which is set after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation, is being taken off digital stores. A recent announcement on Steam explains that licensing problems are the reason for its removal from online platforms.
Released in May 2023 for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles, Star Trek: Resurgence was created by Dramatic Labs, a team made up of developers who previously worked at Telltale Games. The game focuses on player choices that drive the story forward, with occasional quick-time events and straightforward action segments. The story is set after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis, and puts you in control of two Starfleet officers assigned to protect Ambassador Spock on a mission to a formerly peaceful alien world.
Star Trek: Resurgence is Being Delisted
The Steam page for Star Trek: Resurgence was updated on April 14th, marking its first update since July 2024. The post, likely from the game’s developer, Dramatic Labs, or publisher, Bruner House, stated:
We’ve removed Star Trek: Resurgence from sale as our distribution license has expired. If you already own the game, you can still play it through Steam. Thank you to all our players for experiencing the game! Live long and prosper!
As promised, Star Trek: Resurgence is no longer available for purchase on Steam. Currently (as of April 15th at 9:30am ET), you can still buy it on the PlayStation Store, Epic Games Store, and Nintendo eShop, but it’s been removed from the Xbox Store too. It’s likely other digital stores will remove the game soon, so if you want to buy Star Trek: Resurgence, you should do so quickly. Physical copies are still available for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

However, some criticized the game’s visuals and gameplay, particularly the frequent quick-time events and minigames.
