The video game titled “Star Wars Outlaws” is set to debut on Nintendo’s Switch 2 console on September 4, 2025. However, it seems that shortly before its release, concerns have arisen regarding the game’s potential performance quality.
The upcoming Star Wars game titled Outlaws, produced by Ubisoft, was unveiled during the Partner Showcase on July 31 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Interestingly, this will be Ubisoft’s first title to launch on the new console. Regrettably, recent reports suggest that the game’s performance may not be optimal, despite its release being just around the corner.
Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 Framerate Dropped Several Times Below 30FPS
According to GameRant’s report, GVG attended PAX West 2025 and had the opportunity to play Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2. In their latest YouTube video, they mention that Nintendo showcased all games from Gamescom 2025 at PAX West 2025, except for Star Wars Outlaws. However, they were unable to record gameplay footage of the demo version of Star Wars Outlaws during the event.
GameVideosGamer (GVG) weren’t permitted to use cameras over their shoulders for recording footage; instead, they had to play and comment on the games directly. One instance was when they played Star Wars Outlaws on Nintendo Switch 2. The gameplay seemed a bit laggy or unsmooth. The video also mentioned that Star Wars Outlaws runs poorly on the Nintendo Switch 2.
During the demonstration, we saw close-up scenes with a Star Destroyer and space battles. However, it didn’t include open-world sequences, and in some of the closed scenes, the frame rate dipped below 30 frames per second multiple times. The video doesn’t allow us to examine these drops because no recording was made, but they seemed noticeable.
