Mixed Color Slime
In Stardew Valley, there’s a wide variety of buildings you can add to your farm, and among them, the Slime Hutch stands out as one of the most unusual structures. It’s not often that less experienced players opt to construct one.
By the way, if you’re interested, exploring the Slime Hutch meta could potentially bring you a substantial income, along with different types of monsters as rewards, and an extra dose of combat experience for good measure.
At full capacity, these structures can yield nearly the same profit as barns or poultry houses. Although they require slightly more effort to manage and arrange, the additional goods obtained from them justify the trouble.
In this discussion, we’ll cover the steps to acquire a Slime Hutch, providing tips on its optimal setup, and also calculating the typical daily earnings and special rewards for each variety of slime.
How to Get a Slime Hutch

In simpler terms, the Slime Hutch is a structure you can purchase directly from Robin without any prerequisites. It takes two days to build and occupies a space of 7 tiles wide by 4 tiles long on your farm. The cost for this building includes 10,000 gold coins, 500 resources of an unspecified type, 10 resources of another unspecified type, and something else that’s not explicitly stated.
It seems like you already have an effective strategy for earning gold from mining, and gathering 500 Stones would likely be a breeze if your goal is to delve deeper into the mines or explore Skull Cavern.
During your mining excursions, feel free to collect ten pieces of Quartz and later use them in furnaces to produce Refined Quartz. Alternatively, similar to my approach, you could repurpose some fishing debris to obtain it instead.
Among various tasks, the most straightforward one seems to be completing the Vault mission at the Community Center, followed by taking a bus ride which will lead you to Skull Cavern, a place where you can gather a tremendous amount of the required item.
How to Get Slime Eggs

You have two main methods for getting these items: either purchasing them from a shop, or acquiring them as drops when you kill slimes once you’ve constructed a Slime Hutch. Let’s start with the Slime Egg-Press process.
Regardless of whether you’ve constructed a Slime Hutch or not, you can create the Slime Egg-Press once you reach Combat Level 6. This item is made using 25 simple items: 1 of this, 1 of that, and 1 of another, all of which are easily obtainable.
The challenge with news outlets is that you can’t always predict the content they deliver. If you’re aiming for a particular type of slime, you have to take a chance and hope for the best. Moreover, you won’t find Tiger Slime Eggs from this source.
A common method for obtaining these items involves slaughtering slimes, as they occasionally yield their unique Slime eggs. This allows for an easier way to farm a particular color by heading to areas where that color typically appears.
Here are a couple of alternative ways to obtain eggs besides the Tiger Slime Egg, specifically the Tiger Slime. However, if you’re aiming to produce numerous eggs, my suggestion is to eliminate some slimes.
Setting Up Hutches

Initially, it’s recommended that you equip your fresh Slime Hutch with sprinklers and fences right away. The purpose of these additions is twofold: firstly, the sprinklers will automatically supply water to the slimes on a daily basis; secondly, the fences are intended to prevent an overwhelming number of slimes from gathering around you.
Typically, I enclose the left side of the hutch with a gate to keep the Slimes within reach of the incubator while providing them ample space to roam. This setup also serves as a friendly nudge for you to remember to remove any gates that might be in place.
An alternative approach is to install flooring in the Slime Hutch so that Slime Balls will only appear within the enclosure’s boundaries. This way, once you’ve gathered all 20 slimes, they won’t be able to harm you at all.
Whenever you’re eager for the organisms to reproduce naturally but would rather speed up the process by using an incubator, simply place the slime inside the incubator located at the top left corner. Then, exit promptly to minimize damage. For added convenience, you can also pick up a tool to facilitate this process more efficiently.
How to Profit

You have two options when it comes to earning money from your Slime Hutch. The first is letting the slimes reproduce naturally until the hutch is full, at which point they will provide you with five Slime Balls every day. This can serve as a reasonable source of passive income.
If you’re aiming to make a lot of money, it’s essential to regularly thin out your Slime population. The reason is that they multiply rapidly, so eliminating approximately 8 Slimes when their number reaches 20 will result in a decent income for you.
If you prefer not to frequently manage your messy hutches, then the color of the slime isn’t significant, as you can fill a hutch with any type of slime you have on hand, to earn your Slime Ball income.
For the remainder of this manual, we’ll delve into the earnings and additional rewards you’ll accumulate by consistently thinning out your Slime community, given that you maintain 20 identical Slimes within a single enclosure.

The Green Slime represents a rather unremarkable choice as anticipated. The bonus items, unfortunately, are quite underwhelming, with the Amethyst and Slime Egg being the exceptions. Additionally, its earning potential is not particularly impressive.
If you’re satisfied with collecting the gooey orbs and passive earnings, these creatures are indeed simple to acquire. However, if you’re intentionally eliminating them for profit, it’s not a lucrative venture considering the amount of work involved.
In simpler terms, my approach involved collecting slimes once they surpassed the age of 12, placing the collected slimes in incubators, and allowing them to reproduce continuously while also producing new eggs.
Despite possessing the Burglar’s Ring and an enchanted Slime Gatherer sword, my daily yield of slimes remained below one hundred, resulting in a much slower process than anticipated.
Blue Slime

I thought the Blue Slimes would barely outshine the greens, but I was quite taken aback by the result. Interestingly, I didn’t use the presses with the blue ones anymore, as they usually produce green eggs.
In simpler terms, it implies that I didn’t have a strong reason to kill them frequently, which resulted in an accumulation of slime. Additionally, items such as Jade and Winter Root were selling for a good price, so the Blue Slime averaged about 490 gold coins each day.
The fact that Jade is such a valuable mineral in Stardew Valley makes things even more appealing. You can trade it for Staircases in the Desert, which are fantastic items to carry during your expeditions to the Skull Cavern.
This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.
Considering all these elements, coupled with the fact that Blue Slimes are among the most frequent Slimes within the game, makes this an appealing choice, whether for passive earnings or active control.
Red Slime

Although the Red Slime represents an upgrade over the Blue Slime, I consider their abilities to be roughly equivalent. However, farming Red Slimes can be quite challenging due to the fact that the mining areas they inhabit are incredibly unpleasant and difficult to navigate.
Having Coal and Diamonds as part of your collection is truly beneficial, and with the Burglar’s Ring and regular purging, you’ll encounter these items often enough to make their presence seem rewarding.
In other words, when priced higher, both Jade and Winter Root become quite profitable compared to the Blue Slime. However, if you prefer dealing with the Red Slime despite its challenges, then by all means, opt for it.
Notably, collecting 8 Red Slimes daily using a Burglar’s Ring significantly increases your chances of finding at least one diamond each week. This rate is slightly lower compared to the yield from a Crystalarium.
Purple Slime

You might not consider the Purple Slime as significantly superior to the Red Slime as you might assume. Although it offers a substantial possibility of iridium in addition to diamond, its impact on your daily earnings is minimal.
The Purple Slime doesn’t make the Red Slime look all that great when it comes to everyday income, even though it has a good chance of giving you iridium along with diamonds.
Admittedly, the opportunity of potentially receiving both a Diamond and an Iridium Bar free of charge each week sounds quite appealing, but in general, don’t expect significantly different outcomes otherwise.
As a devoted fan, I find the Purple Slime to be significantly more appealing due to the fact that acquiring Purple Slime Eggs presents a much smoother experience compared to other items. Granted, they may not be as frequently found in the Press, but the Skull Caverns are still a manageable and rewarding place to explore for them.
Since you’ll be visiting the Skull Caverns often due to mining expeditions, it could be beneficial to take advantage of the many Purple Slimes residing there by hunting them down. This would provide an excellent opportunity for additional earnings.
Tiger Slime

Tiger Slimes offer a lateral progression compared to the Purple Slimes; they’re not necessarily an improvement, but rather a different kind of asset. In my experience, they generate slightly less average income, yet if I had a larger pool of data, I believe they would be comparable in terms of earnings.
The cost of their eggs is twice as high as that of Purple Slime Eggs. However, they contain neither Iridium nor are as versatile due to elements such as seeds and Taro Tubers included in them.
In simple terms, there’s about a 1% probability that you’ll receive 5000 grams instantly. However, given that the Diamond is found in both places, it seems like this isn’t a very reliable or steady source of earnings over time.
If you’re interested in frequent chances at high-value loot through gambling, by all means, give it a try. Additionally, they provide the highest combat experience among the options, should that be your primary focus.
Mixed Color Slime

I skipped the math for all the varying hues of mixed-color slimes you could potentially create, as there are approximately 16 million unique combinations, but for those curious and daring enough to explore this realm, I’ve included a footnote below.
The likelihood of drops is influenced by the specific hex code of each slime, with White Slimes being particularly interesting. If all the values in the hex code of a White Slime are even numbers, or if they’re all set to 255, it guarantees a diamond drop for you.
Additionally, you can acquire Hardwood from the Brown Gooey Creatures, Gold from the Yellow Globby Beings, and a higher probability of Iridium Ore if you manage to cultivate the Luminous Violet Slimes.
As a gamer, let me tell you from personal experience: When you’re aiming for active culling, I strongly advise against attempting to blend slime colors for specific purposes. It’s a painstakingly slow, unpredictable, and aggravating process, especially when you’re after a diamond farm.
