As a feline-loving gamer with a soft spot for indie titles that tell captivating stories, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about Stray coming to Nintendo Switch! Having played this game on PC and witnessed the mesmerizing blend of adventure, puzzle-solving, and heartwarming feline interactions, I can’t wait to experience it all over again on a handheld device.
The much-anticipated cat-themed game, “Stray“, is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 19th. As of now, it appears that the Nintendo Switch version of “Stray” does not offer any additional features or content compared to the initial release. At this point, details regarding a possible physical edition are yet to be disclosed.
Introduced in July 2022, the game titled “Stray” marks the first release from indie studio BlueTwelve Studio. In this innovative title, players assume control of a feline character navigating through a dystopian, cyberpunk urban landscape, aiming to find their lost companions. Throughout the adventure, players will encounter enigmatic adversaries and tackle platforming challenges and puzzles, all solvable with the agility and instincts that cats are known for.
More than two years after its initial release, Annapurna Interactive has unveiled a trailer for the Nintendo Switch edition of Stray. This sneak peek showcases the game’s distinctive features and numerous praises it has received from different media outlets. In the video, viewers can catch a glimpse of the game’s futuristic setting filled with robots, as well as some realistic movements of the main character, which were inspired by real-life cats that played the lead role in Stray. The trailer also confirms that Stray will be available on November 19.
Stray’s Nintendo Switch Port Finally Receives a Release Date

After spending over a year exclusively on PS4, PS5, and PC (Steam), the game “Stray” was subsequently released on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in the same year of 2022. A macOS version followed soon after, leaving only the Nintendo Switch as the remaining platform where the game hadn’t been launched yet. Initially, it was exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
BlueTwelve Studio created Stray as their inaugural game, but Annapurna Interactive has previously published several notable indie games. Among them are Outer Wilds, a popular roguelike game, and What Remains of Edith Finch, which garnered significant acclaim upon release. Both received widespread recognition after debuting.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating tale of Stray is set to leap into a new dimension with an upcoming animated film adaptation by Annapurna Animation! Unfortunately, details about the project’s progress or potential release date remain scarce at the moment. However, we can rejoice since the game itself has now expanded its reach and will be playable on all current platforms for us to enjoy in the interim.
