Target Reveals Pokemon 30th Anniversary Collection

To mark Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, Target is releasing a new collection of clothing and other products both in stores and online. First launched in Japan in 1996 and brought to North America in 1998, Pokemon has remained popular for three decades with ongoing releases of video games, collectibles, trading cards, and other merchandise.

The Pokemon Company is revealing more about its plans for 2026. They’ve announced “Pokemon Day Out and Night Out” events designed to appeal to fans of all ages. The Night Out events will feature electronic dance music performances by artists like Marshmello and Alison Wonderland, accompanied by Pokemon-themed visuals. The Day Out events will be geared towards families, though specific details are still scarce.

Target’s Pokemon Celebration Begins on May 2

As a huge Pokémon fan, I’m so excited to share that Target is getting a bunch of new 30th anniversary merchandise starting in May! They’ll have clothes and all sorts of other cool stuff – I’ve seen things like Pokémon keyboards, water bottles, headphones, hair clips, and tote bags! It looks like a lot of the designs are celebrating the original 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Green, which is awesome. Just a heads-up, Target is saying some items might sell out quickly, so if you see something you like, grab it fast!

Target’s new Pokemon 30th anniversary collection appears to be a bit of everything. It includes some interesting items, like individual kick balls decorated as Poke Balls, and even Trapper Keeper binders featuring popular Pokemon like Mewtwo, Arcanine, and Gengar. A jacket inspired by the original Kanto Region starters offers a nostalgic ’90s vibe, though it’s priced at $129.99. It’s a shame, however, that none of the products feature the special 30th anniversary logo. The collection will hit Target stores on May 2nd, and will be available online May 3rd at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

With the 30th anniversary of Pokemon underway, Nintendo platforms have already received several new game releases. Things began in February with Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on the Nintendo Switch, followed shortly by Pokemon Pokopia, which launched exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. Pokemon Champions came next in April for Switch, and is planned for release on iOS and Android later this year. While rumors suggest Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald may also come to the Nintendo Switch, there’s been no official confirmation yet.

The Pokemon Company is pulling out all the stops with new video games, merchandise, and events to please everyone. While some of the announced products are more appealing than others, this variety should help fans manage their spending. For example, a Charmander-scented mist is a fun idea, but it’s easily skipped if you’re trying to save money.
