Telegram Founder Holds Millions In Bitcoin & Fiat, Here’s Why

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s recent remarks on his Bitcoin and fiat holdings, evaluated to be in millions, has sparked a sense of bustle across the global crypto realm. In a recent interview, the Telegram CEO stated, “I’ve had a few hundred million dollars in my bank account or in Bitcoin since 10 years ago, and I haven’t moved them.” This reverberated a craze among crypto market traders and investors globally, stirring a whirlpool of speculations surrounding the motive behind Durov’s colossal holdings.

Durov Justifies Unmoved Holdings

During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Telegram’s CEO, Durov, expressed that his greatest priority is maintaining personal freedom. He shared that the substantial amounts of money he has in his bank accounts and Bitcoin give him this sense of freedom. In contrast, purchasing real estate could tie someone down to specific locations, while buying a private jet may limit one’s time due to the numerous distractions it brings. Consequently, Durov chooses to focus solely on Bitcoin and fiat currency investments, opting for the unencumbered flexibility they offer.

Durov expressed that his possessions gave him a deeper understanding of what freedom means, a perspective that might differ from others. However, despite his thinking being similar to that of a monk, his platform continues to grow in popularity and reach a larger international audience.

Significantly, the number of Telegram users has approached 1 billion, representing a remarkable milestone for this popular messaging app. Telegram is a company based in Dubai and was founded by Russian entrepreneur Pavel Durov after his previous social media platform, VK, was closed down.

Telegram User Base Nears 1 Bln: Brief Report

Durov has predicted that Telegram could reach over one billion monthly active users in the next year, largely due to a “rapid spread” or “wildfire growth.” Additionally, according to Forbes, Durov is worth approximately $15.5 billion. He has disclosed that some governments have tried to pressure him into selling the app.

Despite having 900 million active users for its app, he stressed the importance of Telegram remaining impartial and avoiding involvement in politics. This, along with the previously mentioned cryptocurrency holdings by the company, has attracted much interest and curiosity from investors regarding Telegram’s future prospects.
