The Day Before Devs Return With ‘Fntastic 2.0’ and a New Kickstarter Campaign

I, a battle-hardened gamer with years of experience under my belt and a cynical heart to match, find myself utterly flabbergasted by this turn of events. Fntastic, the infamous developers who left a trail of disappointed gamers in their wake with The Day Before, have the audacity to return with ‘Fntastic 2.0’ and a Kickstarter campaign? It’s akin to a three-card monkey selling a used elephant at a circus!

I bet you didn’t see this coming.

In December 2023, Fntastic finally unveiled The Day Before, a survival shooter that had been eagerly awaited for years. Unfortunately, instead of living up to expectations, the game was revealed as a scam, launching in an abysmal state. Following this, Fntastic took it down from online platforms and closed its studio.

Now, almost a year since the studio disappeared, the team is back with ‘Fntastic 2.0’.

Guess Who’s Back?

In an unexpected social media post, the Fntastic team reappeared, expressing the sentiment that ‘everyone deserves another opportunity.’ They shared a link to their latest game titled ‘Escape Factory,’ emphasizing their intention to rectify past errors. By ‘past errors,’ they are referring to the deception of countless gamers that tarnished their reputation within the gaming community.

They’ve returned with a Kickstarter campaign, which they are organizing to gather funds for creating additional video games.

I’m not even kidding:

Overcoming the challenge of restoring trust is no easy feat, but we are determined to create more exciting games should our Kickstarter campaign prove successful. With its “all-or-nothing” funding model, any contributions made will be returned if we fail to reach our set goal. We greatly appreciate your support and want you to know that every penny raised goes directly towards the game’s development rather than profits.

As a long-time observer of the tech industry, I must say that the recent developments with Fntastic have left me quite intrigued. Having witnessed numerous companies come and go over the years, it’s rare to see one take such an open and transparent approach as they are doing now. Their request for community involvement in reviving their platform is a refreshing change from the usual top-down approach we often see.

They also have a new mission!

Our mission is to create games that will be loved for decades.

This is brilliant.
