The First Descendant: Malevolent Build That Wipes Floors!

In the game The First Descendant, the weapons obtained through Battle Passes are typically lackluster. However, this was significantly improved in Season 2, Episode 2 with the addition of Malevolent – a Hand Cannon specializing in Area of Effect (AoE) damage through its Unique Ability.

This manual offers comprehensive information on the functioning of Malevolent within “The First Descendant”, including its specifications, stats, and techniques to construct it effectively.

What is Malevolent in The First Descendant?

In the Season 2, Episode 2 battle pass, there’s a particularly potent weapon dubbed as the Ultimate Revolver. It outperforms most weapons that were previously offered in the battle passes. This weapon boasts the Malicious Retaliation Unique Feature, which inflicts harm on an enemy, causing a Spinning Gear to bounce among several adversaries, dealing damage. Hitting vulnerable spots generates extra Spinning Gears.

Here are the base level 100 stats of the Malevolent:

Stat Value
Firearm ATK 46,349
Toxic ATK 19,467
Fire Rate 176
Rounds per Magazine 9
Reload Time 1.65s
Crit Rate 1%
Crit Damage 1x
Attribute Status Effect Trigger Rate 12.5%
Weak Point Damage 2.5x
Multi-Hit Damage 0.2x

Enhancing your Unique Ability enhances the production quantity, damage of Bladed Cogs from your weapon, and the maximum number of bouncers. Therefore, focus on upgrading your battle pass and collecting all available copies for optimal performance. This potent hand cannon is particularly effective in crowd control situations, especially when used alongside a gun-oriented Descendant character like Serena.

Best Malevolent Build in The First Descendant

Malevolent possesses a near negligible Firearm Critical Hit Rate (approximately 1%) and offers minimal Firearm Critical Hit Damage. Consequently, unlike weapons that emphasize critical hits such as Thunder Cage, it’s more advantageous to concentrate on other damage aspects when crafting this weapon, particularly Weak Point Damage and elemental damage.

Best Modules For Malevolent In The First Descendant

Here are the best Modules for Malevolent in The First Descendant:

Module Effect
Rifling Reinforcement Increases Firearm ATK
Action and Reaction Increases Firearm ATK and Recoil
Charge Amplification Increases Firearm ATK but reduces Firearm Critical Hit Damage
Weak Point Sight Increases Weak Point Damage
Expand Weapon Charge Increases Rounds per Magazine
Fire Rate UP Increases Fire Rate
Toxic Enhancement Increases Toxic ATK based on Firearm ATK
Poison Priority Increases Toxic ATK but reduces Reload Time Modifier
Toxic Conductor When attacking enemies afflicted with Poison, increases Firearm ATK

Instead of focusing on Rifling Reinforcement and Action and Reaction to boost your weapon’s base damage, consider utilizing Charge Amplification since Malevolent doesn’t require Firearm Critical Hit. This will enhance your Firearm Attack instead.

As a fan, I’ve found a strategy to amplify Malevolent’s harm by focusing on elemental toxicity. My build primarily boosts Toxic Attack (Toxic ATK), given its initial base of 19,467.

Enhancing Toxicity synergizes well with Firearm Attack (Firearm ATK) and is a great fit with the first three Modules.

Poison Preference further ramps up Toxic ATK. With a 12.5% chance of triggering Attribute Status Effects, initial shots and Bladed Cogs often inflict Poison. You can maximize this effect using the Toxic Conductor, which boosts Firearm Attack when defeating an enemy tainted with Poison.

You can also adapt Malevolent to different elements based on your gameplay activity. While building into Toxic ATK provides slightly higher damage, the modifiers in your activity take precedence.

Prioritize Weakpoint Damage

As a fan, I’d like to emphasize one more aspect: the Weak Point Damage, since the Unique Ability encourages targeting weak points. Remember that Weak Point Damage amplifies only the initial shot’s damage, not the damage from Bladed Cogs or Poison. To maximize this effect, consider equipping modules such as Weak Point Sight, which boosts Weak Point Damage. Also, keep your aim precise to consistently strike weak points.

Best Malevolent Stats in The First Descendant

As Malevolent reaches level 100, it’s time to fine-tune its attributes to suit your build. The reasoning behind these attributes is similar to that of Modules – you can prioritize Firearm Attack over Firearm Critical Hit Rate and Firearm Critical Hit Damage. Instead, concentrate on boosting the Firearm Base Damage, Attribute Status Effect Trigger Rate (especially if you’re using a Conductor Module), elemental Attack based on your character’s attribute, and Rounds per Magazine.

Here are the stats to look for on the Malevolent:

  • Firearm ATK
  • Attribute Status Effect Trigger Rate
  • Rounds per Magazine
  • Toxic ATK (or an attribute you’re building for)
  • Weak Point Damage

Best Malevolent Synergies in The First Descendant

Previously noted, Malevolent complements Serena effectively. Her Redemption ability causes weapons to inflict Area of Effect (AoE) damage and activates with Bladed Cogs. The AoE from Redemption also amplifies based on Serena’s Maximum Health, providing additional ways to boost Malevolent’s damage output. Gley can also synergize with her infinite ammo build, but the build may require modifications since ammo statistics are not crucial in this scenario.

To enhance your character in Malevolent during Season 2, Episode 2, activate and apply the “Additional Bladed Cog Creator” perk from the “Season” segment of “Inversion Reinforcement.” This will help you generate extra Bladed Cogs in the game.
