As a devoted fan, even though The Walking Dead officially ended on November 20, 2022, its captivating post-apocalyptic tale and undead-filled world continue to thrive through various spinoffs. It feels like the show’s producers are eager to delve into new landscapes in the future. This intricate universe of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes was initially crafted by Robert Kirkman, a comic writer, and Tony Moore, a cartoonist, in 2003. They never imagined that their comic world would leave such a lasting impression. From graphic novels, TV series, and video games, the lore of The Walking Dead not only reached a broader audience but also significantly influenced how we perceive zombies.
As someone captivated by the macabre allure of the undead and the collapse of civilization, I can’t help but marvel at how George A. Romero’s 1968 horror masterpiece, “Night of the Living Dead,” ignited a genre that taps into our collective morbid fascination. This groundbreaking film was inspired by Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel, “I Am Legend.” Fast forward to today, and “The Walking Dead” universe continues to thrive, expanding its zombie apocalypse across the globe, showing no signs of abating.
The Walking Dead To Explore More Countries in Its Spinoffs

At the Multicon LA Wildfire Benefit, The Walking Dead producer Scott Gimple expressed his ambition to expand the post-apocalyptic series to various global locations. “We have one in progress that I can’t wait to unveil, a place we’ve never explored before,” said Gimple. “I’d also be thrilled if it were set in Tokyo, Africa, or Iceland. It sounds odd, but we aim to cover the entire world because there are stories everywhere on Earth.
Scott Gimple hinted at the possibility of exploring more of Daryl Dixon’s storyline, expressing a desire to delve into other characters from “The Walking Dead” world. This would allow us to see how these characters cope with the zombie outbreak in different parts of the globe. He has attempted various stories along these lines, some of which have been quite intriguing, but unfortunately, they haven’t made it to screen due to one reason or another. However, he has mentally visualized these spin-offs and finds them appealing.
Enthusiasm for a supposedly thrilling upcoming project from Gimple has many fans of The Walking Dead eager, despite the anticipated comeback of Dead City and Daryl Dixon this year. In the initial season of Daryl Dixon, his tracking skills took him to parts of France, with Season 3 aiming to delve into Spain. On the other hand, Maggie and Negan find themselves in an undead New York City. Expanding the world of The Walking Dead could not only introduce numerous fresh narratives and characters but also take Robert Kirkman’s original comic book concept to unforeseen territories he never envisioned it would reach.
In two shakes of a lamb’s tail, The Walking Dead: Dead City enters its second season on May 4, airing both on AMC and AMC+. Meanwhile, the third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is slated for premiere sometime in the year 2025.
