With my decades-long career in cybersecurity, I’ve seen countless attempts to breach systems, but the sheer scale and frequency of these attacks on the cryptocurrency sector is truly unprecedented.


Last month, PeckShield’s data shows that hackers managed to pilfer approximately $266 million in cryptocurrency.

Without a doubt, the massive WarizX hack is undeniably number one on our list. This high-profile centralized Indian cryptocurrency exchange suffered a loss of approximately $266 million in digital currency. More recently, they’ve unveiled a recovery plan enabling users to swiftly access about 55% of their original holdings.

As a researcher studying the realm of decentralized finance, I recently found that a hack on the cryptocurrency borrowing and lending platform, Compound, resulted in a loss of approximately $24 million in digital assets. This incident ranks second among the largest hacks in this sector.

In my role as an analyst, I’m sharing some insights about LI.FI, a Berlin-based cryptocurrency trading aggregator. According to U.Today, the platform finds itself in third place with a total of $8 million. Unfortunately, their prebridge swapping feature has been exploited yet again, as reported.
