- Tides of Annihilation is a new game set in post-apocalyptic London revealed during a Sony State of Play.
- Combat parallels Astral Chain with spirit-based fighting, while aesthetic resembles Forspoken.
- The lack of a release window for Tides of Annihilation is disappointing, as it looks really good.
In the upcoming video game “Tides of Annihilation,” which was announced at the Sony State of Play in February 2025, London will once again face destruction. This game reimagines the Arthurian legends in a post-apocalyptic scenario.
Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 couldn’t help but notice that Tides of Annihilation had captured their attention, thanks to the unmistakable voice of its lead character, Gwendolyn, which was provided by Jennifer Hale – a familiar voice from Shadowheart in the game. It turns out that being part of an iconic video game role like this one can open up many new job opportunities.
Moving on from Shadowheart, let’s discuss the game itself. The debut trailer for Tides of Annihilation, which can now be found on the official PlayStation YouTube channel, was unveiled during the February 2025 Sony State of Play event. However, it was subsequently confirmed that the game would also be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. As of now, a specific release date has yet to be announced.

In the tale of “Tides of Annihilation,” the story unfolds in a post-alien-invasion London. You assume the character of Gwendolyn, who has the ability to summon the fighting prowess of the legendary Knights of the Round Table during combat scenes.
In Tides of Annihilation, you’ll find that the action-packed battles share similarities with Astral Chain, as you call upon spirits to aid you during combat. As for its visual style, it blends elements of fantasy and contemporary settings, much like Forspoken does.
Additionally, towering adversaries similar to those found in Shadow of the Colossus were present, along with challenging platforming elements. Moreover, allusions to the Holy Grail and Gwendolyn themselves suggest that the Arthurian theme isn’t merely cosmetic, but deeply intertwined within the game’s narrative.
It’s too bad we didn’t get to see more of Tides of Annihilation during State of Play; it was one of the standout games at the event. Unfortunately, there’s no release date yet, so fans may have a prolonged wait for updates on Gwendolyn’s journey.
