Introduction
I’ve been looking at a lot of sales lately, and this one is definitely among the best. As someone new to board games, I’m really impressed by how much you get for just a few dollars. The Steam Board Game Fest 2026 is a fantastic event for anyone who loves strategy games, both classic tabletop adaptations and brand new releases. You’ll find everything from deep, tactical RPGs like Gloomhaven and Frosthaven, to relaxing puzzle games like Dorfromantik, and even unique, innovative titles like Cultist Simulator. The festival offers a great mix of familiar favorites and exciting demos that capture the satisfying feeling of playing board games.
The Steam Board Games Fest runs from January 26th to February 2nd.

10 – Cultist Simulator
Cultist Simulator is likely the game I’ve spent the most time playing. It’s a really unique experience – a blend of card game, strategy, and storytelling, all wrapped up in a mysterious, occult setting. You play as a cultist searching for forbidden knowledge in a dark, atmospheric world inspired by Lovecraft. What makes it special is how much freedom you have – your choices truly matter and have significant consequences. You could end up captured by the authorities, or you could build your own powerful cult. If you like Lovecraftian horror and minimalist design, this game is incredibly immersive and atmospheric.
9 – Armello

Armello, released in 2015, is a stunning digital board game set in a dark fairy-tale world. It combines strategy, card play, dice-based combat, and RPG elements as players each control a unique hero trying to become the ruler of a troubled kingdom. Up to four players can compete in each game.
8 – Frosthaven

Frosthaven launched in Early Access in July 2025 and is still being actively developed. It brings the popular tabletop RPG-style board game to computers, letting players explore a harsh northern land. You’ll build and upgrade outposts while battling enemies in challenging, turn-based combat. With beautiful graphics, different character types, unpredictable quests, and the option to play with friends, it’s a very immersive and replayable experience. It currently costs $30, which is a bit expensive, but it’s one to watch. If that’s too much, check out the cheaper games on the following pages!
