The creators of the cooking roguelike game, Omelet You Cook, are concerned that the upcoming release of Slay the Spire 2 might overshadow their game and steal its potential attention.
There are a lot of roguelike games available, and Slay the Spire is still considered one of the best. A new game called Omelet You Cook, from SchuBox Games, is trying something different and is currently in early access on Steam. It’s set to officially launch on February 8th, but that only gives it about a month before the release of Slay the Spire’s sequel, which is expected to quickly become the main focus for fans of the genre.
Slay the Spire 2 hits Early Access in March 2026
Mega Crit announced in September 2025 that the highly anticipated sequel to their hit 2019 deck-building roguelike will be available in Early Access this March, after a slight delay.
So, I heard in an interview with GamesRadar+ that the developers, Dan Schumacher, initially thought they were safe from competition with this huge game. They figured it wouldn’t come out until late 2025, so they didn’t expect it to launch around the same time as their game.
It turned out they hadn’t noticed the delay announcement. Schumacher even joked that he wouldn’t have time to play his own game, as he’d be too busy playing this new one!
We couldn’t launch at the same time as such a dominant competitor in our field,” he explained.
He asks players to be understanding as the game officially launches in February, explaining it’s a significant step forward and they’re excited to share it with more people.
