1. Directive 8020 (May 12)

A Horror Game In Space

Supermassive Games, known for interactive horror games like 2015’s Until Dawn and 2022’s The Quarry, is releasing a new game called Directive 8020. This time, the horror takes place on a spaceship, and players will experience the story by controlling five different characters throughout the game.

The game focuses on a limited number of actions for each character, like moving and solving simple puzzles. However, the main ways players will interact are through fast-paced action sequences and choices made during conversations. Importantly, any character can die, significantly changing the story’s direction. PlayStation 5 players can experience the game starting on the 12th.

2. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (May 19)

Bringing Doom Back To Zelda

Originally released in 2010 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, Darksiders received a remastered version, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, which first came out in 2016. The Switch received a port of this remastered version in 2019. It’s been a while since then, and this critically-acclaimed action-adventure game deserves to be updated for newer consoles – especially for fans of games like Zelda.

Players take on the role of War, one of the Four Horsemen, in a post-apocalyptic world. He’ll fight both angels and demons while trying to figure out why the apocalypse happened sooner than expected. The game features upgrades and tools found in dungeons, including a teleportation device similar to a portal, and a massive sword for combat. If you haven’t played before, the updated version launches on PS5 on the 19th and is worth checking out.

3. Gallipoli (May 21)

The World War 1 Assault Continues

Gallipoli is a World War I video game that recreates the 1915 Battle of Gallipoli, where Allied forces attempted to fight the Ottoman Empire and regain control of the area. The game is developed by BlackMill Games, who have built a reputation for creating excellent World War I multiplayer games, beginning with their 2015 title, Verdun.

Following the releases of Tannenberg and Isonzo, Gallipoli is the next game in the series. Players can expect similar fast-paced, first-person combat featuring weapons from the period, like pistols, rifles, and grenades. Like previous BlackMill titles, Gallipoli will focus on realistic and authentic historical detail, combined with tactical team-based multiplayer gameplay.

4. Starbites (May 21)

A Turn-Based Mecha JRPG

Starbites is being created by the lesser-known IKINAGAMES, but it’s being published by NIS America, a company with a strong track record in unique RPGs. The game’s style blends elements of Wild Arms – particularly its desert setting – with the mechs featured in Xenogears.

While some characters ride futuristic bikes and use guns, this game is primarily focused on mechs. Battles are turn-based, letting you choose between standard attacks and special skills. You can also customize your mechs when you’re not fighting. Starbites comes out on the PS5 and other platforms on the 21st, offering mech fans a new game to look forward to.

5. Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight (May 22)

Back And Bolder Than Ever Before

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a new, expansive open-world game taking place in Gotham City. It promises to be the largest Batman game yet, letting players fight enemies with punches and gadgets, glide through the city, and drive vehicles like the Batmobile and a motorcycle.

The upcoming LEGO Batman game will draw inspiration from all different versions of Batman, including the movies like The Dark Knight, but it won’t simply retell one specific story like many LEGO Star Wars games do. While LEGO DC Super-Villains featured Batman in 2018, the last dedicated LEGO Batman game was The LEGO Batman Movie Game from 2017, which was a mobile running game. LEGO fans who have been waiting for a new Batman game should be excited, as it’s coming out on the 22nd.

6. 007 First Light (May 27)

Shaken, Not Stirred

After a long wait – it’s been since 2012’s 007 Legends – fans can finally play as James Bond again in 007 First Light. This new game features an original story focusing on a younger, less experienced version of the iconic spy. It’s being created by IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series.

Even though the game is made by the team behind Hitman, 007 First Light doesn’t offer the same open-world freedom. Instead, it focuses on more traditional levels that combine stealth and action. Players can still expect classic Bond experiences – exciting set pieces and flexible gameplay where they can use disguises, gadgets, or weapons to complete missions. 007 First Light will be available on the 27th.

7. Story Of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (May 28)

A Cozy Life Sim

Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is the newest game in the Story of Seasons series. It launched in 2025 for PC and Nintendo Switch. Like the popular game Stardew Valley, it’s a life simulation where you manage a farm, grow plants, and raise animals.

The main attraction of this game is its dynamic bazaar where players buy and sell goods, and finding the best prices can be challenging. Beyond making money, players can also search for rare materials. If you’re a PS5 owner looking for a relaxing game to play on the 28th, this might be a good fit.

8. Wandering Sword (May 28)

Octopath Samurai

Fans who enjoyed the look of Wandering Sword and thought it resembled a Square Enix title were right to think so. The game uses the same HD-2D art style as Octopath Traveler, and shares many similarities in gameplay, though it has a distinct tone all its own.

This RPG is inspired by Wuxia stories and takes place in a fantastical ancient China. Players build a team, travel across the land, and battle armies using spectacular combat moves. Originally released on Steam in 2023, it’s now available on PS5 on the 28th for fans of classic RPGs.
