Two More Classic Arcade Games Confirmed for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Summary

  • Virtua Fighter 3tb and The Ocean Hunter will be featured in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
  • These classic Sega titles will join returning games like Dragon Kart and Sega Racing Classic 2.
  • The addition of games like Virtua Fighter 3tb enhances the experience.

In less than two weeks, the highly anticipated game titled “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” is set to drop. Its creators, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, have revealed that they will include two more iconic arcade games from the late 90s for players to enjoy within the game itself. The new release is a spin-off sequel to last year’s “Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth“, and it follows the popular Yakuza character, Goro Majima, on an exciting pirate escapade across the Hawaiian seas.

Before the launch of “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” on February 21, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed several side activities that players can enjoy during Goro’s seafaring journey. In December, they shared a brief sneak peek confirming the return of popular minigames from the Yakuza series, such as karaoke, and some brand new ones like Dragon Kart from “Yakuza: Like a Dragon” and Crazy Delivery from “Infinite Wealth”. As with previous games in the franchise, arcades will be featured, and last week they announced “Sega Racing Classic 2: Battle on the Edge” as one of these.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has shared on Twitter again about two additional Sega arcade games that will be featured in the upcoming title, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. One of them is Virtua Fighter 3tb, a Dreamcast version of the original 1996 Model 3 arcade game. The other is Sega’s 1998 underwater rail shooter, The Ocean Hunter, which aligns perfectly with the ocean theme of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Confirms Two More Sega Arcade Games

  • The Ocean Hunter
  • Virtua Fighter 3tb

Virtua Fighter 3tb is back in action following its debut within the Yakuza franchise last year in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Since the Yakuza games have traditionally included Virtua Fighter titles in their arcades, it’s no shock that Virtua Fighter 3tb is making an appearance. However, given that RGG Studio will be responsible for Virtua Fighter 6 as announced at The Game Awards in December, its inclusion feels particularly relevant. Previously, adding playable arcade games to the Like a Dragon series has been a successful method of attracting fans of the original ’90s arcade titles, and it’s likely that this strategy will prove effective once again for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Gamers can eagerly anticipate playing both “Virtua Fighter 3tb” and “The Ocean Hunter” within “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii,” set to launch on February 21st. The upcoming fortnight promises an abundance of game releases, as “Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” coincides with the release of Xbox’s “Avowed,” and will be succeeded by “Monster Hunter Rise,” slated for a week later. Despite the competition, “Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii” boasts distinctive features and its iconic Sega arcade games are bound to make it shine.
