Ubisoft has shared that their studios based in Montpellier and Milan are developing the upcoming plans for the popular character, Rayman.
The latest news about Rayman’s 30th anniversary was shared in a new video posted by the official Rayman X/Twitter account. In this video, it was revealed that two studios are collaborating on the future of Rayman right now, although we might not hear more updates from them for a while.
In October 2024, it was exclusively revealed by TopMob that the initial work had started on a Rayman Remake, internally referred to as ‘Steambot’. At this point, we don’t have extensive details about the story, but it’s believed the game may launch towards the end of 2026. This timeline arises due to the project allegedly progressing exceptionally smoothly, as indicated by sources close to the Rayman development team.
Beyond Steambot, there’s also a general understanding that Ubisoft aims to expand the Rayman series beyond merely a remake, and they’ve already started laying the groundwork for Rayman 4’s development.
Based on available information, the project is scheduled, contingent upon Steambot’s success. Should it proceed into full-scale production, an estimated release date falls towards the close of this decade.
The most recent Rayman game, excluding Rayman Mini (a mobile game), that was launched in 2013 was called Rayman Legends.
Ubisoft Games in 2026/2027
If they stick to the schedule, a Rayman Remake might be launched in 2026, contributing to an impressive lineup of games from the publisher during that timeframe. The years 2024-2025 seem to be less busy for the publisher after their decision to prioritize quality over quantity in their game releases.
The implication is that the publisher’s entire schedule of game releases has been delayed, potentially resulting in multiple high-quality titles being released successively.
Ubisoft currently has the following projects scheduled to release in 2026/2027:
1. Project Ovr is the upcoming main Ghost Recon game.
2. Project Hexe represents the next main Assassin’s Creed game.
3. Project North is a remake of Splinter Cell.
4. Project Blackbird stands for the new main Far Cry game.
5. Project Maverick might be a shooter spin-off in the Far Cry series, but it’s uncertain if it will be released.
6. Project Rewind is a Prince of Persia remake.
7. Project Alterra is an Animal Crossing-like game.
8. Project Crest could be a WW2 extraction-based shooter.
9. Project BG&E2, despite the skepticism, is still in development (yes, I know… but it’s true!).
Regarding release dates, Project Obsidian (Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake) and Project Invictus (Assassin’s Creed multiplayer) are yet to be confirmed, but they were initially planned for the end of 2025.
Looking beyond 2027, Ubisoft is working on multiple projects including The Division 3, the next mainline The Crew game, and various other mainline and smaller Assassin’s Creed experiences. Additionally, they are developing other small-scale games based on their IPs, such as a turn-based Rainbow 6 game.
