I’ve noticed how incredibly popular Demon Slayer has become, but it’s interesting to remember it wasn’t an instant hit. It really took off after the anime’s first season aired, and then people around the world started paying attention to the original manga.

ufotable was crucial to the success of Demon Slayer. It’s fair to say the studio was largely responsible for turning it into the incredibly popular and profitable franchise it is today. Without their dedication and skill, Demon Slayer wouldn’t have become so well-known.

Viewers of the popular Demon Slayer anime are curious about ufotable’s next project. Given ufotable’s reputation as a leading animation studio, many expect them to announce something new soon. Genshin Impact is a strong possibility to be their next big anime adaptation, as the studio may have already chosen it to follow Demon Slayer.

It’s easy to forget that ufotable once announced they would be working on a Genshin Impact anime. The announcement was made back in 2022, and we haven’t heard anything since, which has led some fans to wonder if the project will ever happen. It’s understandable why fans are starting to question ufotable, but it’s also possible the studio has been prioritizing its work on Demon Slayer. Given the success of that series, it’s hard to fault them for focusing their efforts there.

It appears ufotable is planning to complete the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie trilogy before beginning any new anime series. They’ve established a very high level of quality with the Demon Slayer adaptation, and likely want to avoid risking their reputation by starting another project before finishing this one. It makes sense for them to focus on completing what they’ve already started.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie 2 & 3 Release Dates

Earlier this year, ufotable released the first Infinity Castle film, and it was a massive success, breaking numerous records. It became the highest-grossing movie ever in Japan and even surpassed popular films like Superman worldwide. The movie’s popularity shows that anime is now more popular than ever, attracting viewers who don’t usually watch anime thanks to its stunning animation. Creating animation of this quality requires a dedicated team with enough time to do it right.

To ensure another high-quality film, ufotable needs to avoid overworking its staff and allow sufficient production time. Each movie currently takes over two years to create, meaning a film started in 2025 would likely be released around 2027. It’s possible some staff already began work on the second movie while finishing the first, which could speed up production. If the second film arrives in 2027, the third could potentially premiere in 2029, keeping the entire Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy on track to conclude before 2030.

Once the current story arc finishes, the animation studio ufotable might begin work on a fifth season of the Demon Slayer anime. While many fans doubt this will happen, ufotable has surprised us before. Having a fifth season available would be a good backup plan. However, don’t expect it right away – ufotable will probably spend a year or two polishing the existing series before releasing a new season.

If you don’t want to wait for the movies, you can read the original manga – it’s already finished! Because the manga is where the story comes from, you won’t have to worry about the anime adding anything new. But if you’re happy to wait, it’s worth it to see the second and third movies when they come out.
