Unique Diablo 4 weapon nerfed after players discover crazy XP glitch

As a seasoned Diablo player with countless hours spent in Sanctuary’s darkest corners, I find myself both amused and frustrated by the latest turn of events in Diablo 4 Season 5. The XP glitch, fueled by the mysterious Umbracrux, has brought an unexpected twist to our usual grind.

As a passionate Diablo 4 gamer, I’ve got some news for us fellow adventurers: The dev team has had to temporarily tone down one of Season 5’s fresh Unique Weapons due to an XP glitch it triggered. This buggy loot was granting players millions of free XP, which is quite a boost if you ask me! But remember, it’s all about balancing the game for our gaming pleasure in the long run.

In just a few hours after its release, some players found themselves earning vast amounts of free experience points (XP) when defeating specific opponents. This sudden surge catapulted them 20-30 levels upwards almost instantly. Naturally, the developers picked up on the commotion swiftly and pinpointed the issue right away.

The issue arose due to the introduction of The Umbracrux, a distinctive dagger from Season 5, which can generate a Shade Totem that absorbs damage and inflicts it on surrounding enemies at an efficiency rate of 20%.

Adam Fletcher, the Global Community Development Director at Blizzard, spoke about this matter in the Diablo 4 forums on August 7th and promised players that they are currently working on a solution for it.

Fletcher stated that the team learned about a problem in which players could earn a large amount of experience by defeating specific bosses when they had ‘The Umbracrux’ Unique item equipped.

“For a short while, we’re going to temporarily disable the special ability of this weapon as we work on resolving an issue. Consequently, players won’t be able to summon a Shade Totem using this weapon during that time.”

During Season 5, the Unique Effect has been temporarily deactivated, but don’t worry, players can continue to discover and utilize the weapon. However, the ability to exploit its unique skill will no longer be possible. Instead, you can hold onto it in your inventory until a solution is rolled out.

Since Diablo 4 Season 5 commenced, there’ve been several bugs and issues, yet some have turned out advantageous for players, such as the continued Temper Manuals. Despite this, Blizzard was lenient with that particular issue, but they swiftly addressed the XP glitch.
