In the game Devil May Cry 5, players will encounter 21 primary missions, following the journey of characters Dante, Nero, and V as they battle Demon Urizen and his Qliphoth Tree. This story unfolds across Redgrave City’s streets and deep within the Qliphoth Tree itself, making for a vast adventure to embark on.

In addition to the main storyline, Devil May Cry 5 offers 12 secret missions that can be entered through hidden portals within the primary missions. Completing these missions grants you blue orb shards which boost your health capacity. If you conquer them using any of the three primary characters – Dante, Nero, or V – triumphing over them again as Vergil results in a gold orb.

All Main Missions in Devil May Cry 5

Prologue

At the beginning of the game, we traverse the inner realm as Nero, eventually facing off against Urizen in a battle where defeat is expected. However, if you’re exceptionally skilled with Nero or acquire additional abilities later on, there’s a chance to win, resulting in an amusingly underwhelming alternate ending.

Mission 01: Nero

In this mission, Nero, now sporting his sleek Devil Breaker Arms, navigates his way into Redgrave City via a shattered bridge. The climax of this adventure involves a boss battle against the Qliphoth Roots. You can deal damage to these roots by focusing on the large blood clot found at their core.

Mission 02: Qliphoth

On this mission, I push deeper into the heart of the city, hopscotching across the bustling streets and sneakily slipping through an adjacent hotel for a quicker route. My journey ends at a towering church. This battle up ahead is no joke, it’s against a colossal beast named Goliath who prefers to get up close and personal with his brutal melee attacks.

Mission 03: Flying Hunter

In the course of this task, Nero ventures further into the urban landscape, crossing over a submerged region and into the underbelly of the city via sewers. Later on, he emerges from the darkness into a library setting where his ultimate adversary for this mission awaits – Death Scissors. The last boss that Nero encounters in this particular stage is none other than Artemis, a formidable demon capable of launching potent long-range attacks and who maintains a persistent hover above the combat arena.

Mission 04: V

In this mission, players shift focus from Nero and instead control V, a character who employs three familiars derived from bosses in the initial Devil May Cry. This introductory level for V’s gameplay concludes with a battle against Nidhogg, a demonic/parasitic entity residing within the Qlippoth Roots.

Mission 05: The Devil Sword Sparda

Moving onward as character V, he finds himself driven underground due to a massive demonic presence. He ventures deeper into the urban landscape, eventually encountering the Elder Knight Geryon and picking up a valuable hint about the legendary sword known as Sparda, which belongs to the Devil.

Mission 06: Steel Impact

In this particular stage, Nero engages in a one-on-one battle with Gilgamesh, the colossal metal fiend who previously drove V underground.

Mission 07: United Front

In this adventure, players select either V or Nero as their character, each embarking on a unique journey through the destroyed metropolis. Along the way, they follow separate routes within the level until both meet for a showdown against Proto Angelo and Scudo Angelo in the final boss battle.

Mission 08: Demon King

In this mission, character Nero returns to battle within the Qliphoth Tree against Urizen for a re-match. After navigating through the entirety of the levels, you’ll find yourself facing Urizen in the boss room where the goal is to break his crystal – a task that typically results in defeat. However, if you manage to defeat him outright here, it will lead to an alternate ending.

Mission 09: Genesis

In the same timeline as my last adventure, I, as V, am on a quest to track down Dante and the mighty Devil Sword Sparda. Towards the climax, I encounter a trio of demons known as “Nobodies.” After a fierce battle, I’ll have to defeat them to move forward in my journey.

Mission 10: Awaken

In this mission, it’s you controlling Dante as we delve into the game from his point of view. Once familiar with Dante’s style, we engage in another bout with Urizen. There are no hidden endings in sight, but the fight concludes either when the crystal is broken or after a timeframe of 30 seconds elapses.

Mission 11: Reason

Waking up after a long snooze, I navigate the bustling streets of Redgrave City, determined to square off against Cavaliere Angelo. In this showdown, the art of parrying proves crucial for victory – and let me tell you, nothing beats the rush of successfully deflecting his attacks!

Just waking up from a power nap, I’m off to challenge Cavaliere Angelo in Redgrave City. Parrying is key here, trust me; it makes defeating him all the sweeter!

Mission 12: Yamato

On this journey, Dante navigates towards his former family residence, with an indistinct path leading towards the Qliphoth tree. Upon arrival at home and unveiling a fresh ability, we engage in battle with Urizen again.

Mission 13: Three Warriors

For this task, you’re free to choose among the three primary characters as you journey through the Qliphoth, tracking Urizen. This vast assortment of battlegrounds includes numerous group fights, but be aware there is no final boss encounter. So, select your preferred character and let loose!

Mission 14: Diverging Point: V

During the concluding task of V, you’ll encounter three past adversaries: Goliath, Artemis, and Cavaliere Angelo. As V’s allies are snatched away, it’s crucial to prioritize retrieving Shadow initially to reactivate your close-quarter combat combos.

Mission 15: Diverging Point: Nero

On his journey into the Qliphoth, Nero encounters this mission which leads him to meet up with V again. Their subsequent battle finds them pitted against the formidable demon Malphas. This creature, a witch bonded with a bird, possesses powerful magical abilities that allow it to move and strike from unexpected positions by teleporting.

Mission 16: Diverging Point: Dante

In the meantime, Dante is venturing further into the Qliphoth where he encounters King Cerberus, a formidable adversary who employs three distinct elements in his attacks.

Mission 17: Brothers

In this mission, Dante is back for another go, facing a stage that only includes boss battles. This round, Dante will have his final showdown with Urizen. Unlike previous encounters, we can deplete Urizen’s entire health meter in this fight without triggering the game’s end. Despite being stronger and faster than ever, Dante has the skills to overcome these challenges.

Mission 18: Awakening

In the first assignment post-Vergil’s homecoming, Dante embarks on a journey through the higher realms of the Qliphoth, engaging in combat with V’s minions en route to finding his brother.

Mission 19: Vergil

In Mission 19, it is Dante who you will encounter, pitted against his brother Vergil in an epic battle that puts all your skills to the test, as you engage with a formidable and agile adversary. However, in Vergil Mode, you’ll find yourself battling against Dante himself during this mission instead.

Mission 20: True Power

In Mission 20, Nero confronts his father for the climactic battle of the game, utilizing his own skillset to counteract Vergil’s swift attacks. Conversely, Dante’s Mission 20 presents him engaging in combat with a familiar foe – he will deploy every weapon at his disposal, even unleashing the Sin Devil Trigger.

All Secret Missions in Devil May Cry 5

Secret Mission 01 – Eliminate all of the demons

In Mission 2, you’ll discover your first Secret Mission, serving as an introduction to the Secret Mission System. This tutorial level can be accessed within the hotel. To complete it, simply vanquish all the demons appearing there. Compared to the more challenging Secret Missions that follow, this one is relatively straightforward.

Secret Mission 02 – Don’t let any Red Empusa escape!

During my third mission, I stumbled upon hidden underground passages, where a menacing group of Red Empusas lurk. My objective is to eliminate each and every one of them before they can flee. Be vigilant, as I must disrupt their burrowing escape animation by dealing damage to them. Once accomplished, I’ll swiftly clear this mission with ease.

Secret Mission 03 – Collect all of the Red Orbs.

During mission 4, your goal is to quickly collect all the red orbs, and this can be done more efficiently if V is mounted on Shadow. This is because, as he rides, Shadow can break through most obstacles, making it easier for V to snatch the orbs.

Secret Mission 04 – Eliminate all of the demons without taking a hit.

During Mission 5, the covert operation requires players to eliminate all demons without getting hurt. Luckily, you’ll be controlling character V, who doesn’t have to get too close to inflict damage, making it slightly less challenging to avoid attacks and dish out damage at the same time.

Secret Mission 05 – Get to the goal without touching the ground.

During Mission 8, you can access the hidden mission by jumping onto platforms that rise above a river of lava. This level requires players to overcome a platforming obstacle using their strong grasping abilities. Once you get the hang of it, shooting the grips while in mid-air and then swinging on them becomes quite simple.

Secret Mission 06 – Eliminate all of the demons in 20 seconds or less.

In Mission 9, proceed by turning left following the second compulsory battle. Utilize Nightmare in an area close to a shattered blue orb fragment to create a passageway. Inside the hidden mission, you’ll need to exterminate every demon within 20 seconds. Make good use of V’s devil trigger meter with either Royal Fork or Nightmare to swiftly annihilate them all.

Secret Mission 07 – Aim for their weak point and take them down with a single bullet.

After the initial battle with the Hellbat in Mission 10, make sure to swiftly move through a flashing red doorway before it shuts, revealing a hidden pathway. En route, you’ll encounter death scissors, requiring a precise shot to eliminate with just one bullet. However, fear not! There’s a clever strategy involved:

– Defeat the scissors by interrupting their attack sequence.
– Watch for when their scissors start glowing white; this signals an imminent strike.
– As soon as they glow white, quickly strike them to break their guard.
– A moment later, a red glow will appear around their head, signaling a critical hit opportunity.
– Take advantage of this by firing a single shot for a powerful, critical strike.

Secret Mission 08 – Maintain an S Stylish Rank.

During Mission 11, ascend again after eliminating the initial blood clot to locate it. Your objective here is to sustain an S-Rank throughout the battle, so begin with a powerful initiative by employing the air taunt to boost yourself to SS-rank, then continuously apply your favorite combo variations to keep that gauge climbing until the fight concludes.

Secret Mission 09 – Stay in the air for more than 15 seconds.

In Mission 12, after Dante remarks “This Takes Me Back,” you should locate the mission entrance by ascending to the top of the area and looking backwards from there. This particular mission necessitates maintaining flight for at least 15 seconds, which can be achieved through Enemy Step, melee attacks with Cavaliere, and gunfire. Alternatively, you could exploit the mission by activating Sin Devil Trigger and Air Raid.

Secret Mission 10 – Get to the goal without touching the ground.

To locate this mission, first, you must conquer the three mirage bosses within Mission 14. Once you’ve eliminated the bloodclots to clear the path ahead, retrace your steps back to where the initial bloodclot was previously situated. Here, you’ll discover the hidden mission. If equipped with the Promotion skill, ride Nightmare to effortlessly accomplish the goal, or utilize Shadow’s swiftness to leap from the starting platform using a jump, followed by Griffon for additional distance, and finally Gambit to teleport the remaining distance.

Secret Mission 11 – Head straight for the goal!

In Mission 15, locate the hidden path concealed behind the initial statue depicting deity. This path will guide you towards a glowing blue object. Utilize your ability called Punchline to access it. Afterwards, descend to your right and proceed northeast to uncover the secret mission. This mission is similar to a traditional “reach the target” task, but with a strict time constraint. The majority of it involves straightforward navigation; however, be prepared to use Punchline and a double jump to handle the moving platforms at the end.

Secret Mission 12 – Collect a set amount of Red Orbs.

The final hidden mission becomes accessible during Mission 16, and it calls for you to collect 800 Red Orbs by defeating an Empusa. This task can be made simpler if you utilize the fully upgraded Set Hat skill from Dr Faust’s Weapon. With this ability, you can repeatedly make the Empusa don a hat, causing it to drop a large number of orbs whenever struck with any other weapon.
