2024 was a big year for Disney Lorcana after its launch with just two sets the year prior, and Ravensburger is seemingly trying to capitalize on that in 2025 with three confirmed expansions and new card gimmicks. Lorcana‘s new Dual-Ink cards in Archazia’s Island are an interesting concept due to their added strengths at the cost of more limited deckbuilding options, but not many of them are seeing play so far in the meta for set 7. Still, the new expansion dramatically changed the landscape for the best decks in the game, and the result is that some cards are more affordable than ever, and others are quite in the opposite situation.

It’s relatively common for new TCG expansions to make cards spike in value or drop to their lowest values, and it’s a sign of how that given set affects the overall meta of the game. In the case of Lorcana, for example, Azurite Sea came with the very powerful Maui – Half-Shark card that made some Ruby and Sapphire cards spike in price since that was the most popular color combination. Archazia’s Island took Sapphire to new heights, with Sapphire/Steel being possibly the single best deck in the format, and a Steel Legendary is not at its best price ever while a Sapphire one is much more expensive than ever.

Why Now is The Best (and Worst) Time to Buy Beast – Tragic Hero in Lorcana

One of the reasons why Sapphire/Steel is an incredibly strong deck is that it can rather consistently allow players to use Lorcana‘s Belle – Apprentice Inventor on turn one thanks to both Pawpsicle and Fortisphere, only to ramp into Tamatoa – Happy as a Clam as soon as possible and make a wide board. The prominence of items and Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker alongside these cards make other card-draw engines less useful, such as Beast – Tragic Hero, which is now going for 24$ on TCGPlayer compared to its average of at least $30 and up to $38 since its release.

Beast – Tragic Hero was also largely used in some Steel decks for some mid-game draws, but since the current meta doesn’t benefit midrange decks much and is rather focused on control or aggro, this powerful card has seen a steep decline in usage. However, it remains a very strong Steel card that can easily Shift on turn three if used in Emerald/Steel decks that also run Morph. Considering that set 7 is in its early days and the meta can and will change in the future, now may be a great time to grab Beast – Tragic Hero, especially for players who like Lorcana‘s Steel Ink color.

Why Now is The Worst (and Best) Time to Buy Oswald – The Lucky Rabbit in Lorcana

The other Legendary that is seeing a massive price change, even steeper than that of Beast – Tragic Hero, is Oswald – The Lucky Rabbit. This 2-cost character has rapidly become a huge staple of Sapphire/Steel decks thanks to its incredible synergy with items, and its price spiked almost $20, from around $9 during Lorcana‘s Azurite Sea meta to around $25 on TCGPlayer. While Oswald – The Lucky Rabbit may not be overly expensive even now that its price spiked, the deck it’s played in is extremely costly.

This setup often includes four copies of Tamatoa – Happy as a Clam (approximately $59 each), several Scrooge McDuck – Resourceful Miser ($28 each), multiple Lucky Dime ($11 each), and 3-4 Strength of a Raging Fire ($20 each). These are just the pricier cards in the deck, so it’s clear that constructing Sapphire/Steel in set 7 can be quite costly. However, from a financial perspective, now might not be the ideal time to purchase Oswald, but it could also be the best because it’s currently in its optimal state.
