Unlocking the Secret Location of the Crank Handle in Resident Evil 2 Remake!

In the Resident Evil 2 Remake, whether you opt for Leon or Claire as your character, you’ll find yourself visiting many similar spots in the initial phase of the game. Although the overall structure of the Police Station remains consistent, the unique paths each character takes to navigate will differ.

In each character’s journey, there are distinctive artifacts and keys that set their experiences apart. One such exclusive item, accessible only to a single character, is the Crank Handle. Here’s how you can acquire it and learn about its purpose.

Where To Find The Crank Handle In Resident Evil 2 Remake

The Crank Handle is unique to only Leon, with Claire not being able to get it at all.

To obtain the Crank Handle, your journey begins by locating the three medallions and battling the initial boss en route. Upon arriving at the parking garage, engage with the kiosk near the entrance to trigger a brief cutscene featuring a secretive woman who departs soon after. Continue to follow her into the prison complex, and make your way to the corner at the southwest part of the jail.

Once you locate and unfortunately lose the reporter who has been imprisoned and swiftly eliminated by a formidable force, control over Leon will be restored, allowing you to move towards a table situated along the right side of the room where you’ll discover the Crank Handle. It’s crucial to note that this item can’t be left or retrieved at a later time as it’s essential for escaping the parking garage with Leon. If necessary, ensure there’s space in your inventory, as you won’t have another choice.

Where To Use The Crank Handle In Resident Evil 2 Remake

The Crank Handle is used to open two shutters in Leon’s playthrough:

  • After exiting the Morgue and heading to the right, the shutter then leads to a storage room where you get an electronic part needed to get to the parking garage pass.
  • Back in the main police station, after walking out of the waiting room take a left and go down the hallway heading north. This leads to the back end of the police station which is accessed through the police chief’s elevator when playing as Claire.

Once you’ve utilized the Crank Handle to open both shutters, a red checkmark will show up on it in your inventory, indicating that it’s now disposable since it doesn’t have any other functions and is just occupying space in your inventory.
