PlayStation 5 players have two exciting new games to look forward to: Saros, an immersive third-person roguelike shooter, and 007 First Light, a stylish stealth action-adventure game. Plus, Pragmata has recently launched and is already very popular on PS5. For fans of action RPGs who enjoyed Crimson Desert, several promising games are scheduled to release in the coming months.
We expect to see even more games revealed at Summer Game Fest, especially for release this fall. But for now, let’s highlight some exciting action RPGs you should add to your wishlist right away.

Neverness To Everness
A Free-To-Play Example
Let’s start with Neverness to Everness, which is launching at the end of April. Best of all, it’s free for all PS5 players, offering a fun experience while they wait for other new games. You’ll create a character – either male or female – who’s a rookie investigator for the city’s paranormal division. Gameplay involves taking on missions to explore different dimensions and investigate strange, physics-defying events.
Players can expect unique missions in Neverness to Everness, like exploring a forest that’s actually a painting or being reduced to the size of a mouse. When you switch between characters, the action flows seamlessly, and you can unlock new characters by progressing through the story or using in-game money. While the game has some elements common to ‘gacha’ games, early looks suggest it allows players to progress at their own speed. Overall, Neverness to Everness looks like a promising game for PS5 owners.
Gothic 1 Remake
A Classic Reborn
Fans of epic adventures have long enjoyed The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim on both PC and consoles, but Gothic has largely been a PC-only experience since its release in 2001. The original Gothic was a popular game, despite its flaws, offering players an engaging story and rewarding gameplay in a large open world. While a remastered version came to the Switch in 2023, PlayStation 5 owners will finally be able to play it this June with the Gothic 1 Remake. This remake features improved graphics, with more detailed character models and environments.
The world of Gothic 1 Remake is vast and immersive, letting you explore everything from above ground to underwater treasure hunts. It’s a complete fantasy RPG experience, filled with classic elements like swords, magic, and archery, plus meaningful choices that truly affect the story. With the latest improvements, it has the potential to become the go-to action RPG for PlayStation 5 fans in 2026, offering strong writing and gameplay that could even surpass Crimson Desert in quality – though not necessarily in size. Both longtime fans and newcomers should find a lot to love.
The Adventures Of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
HD-2D Zelda
Okay, so I’ve been checking out The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, and it’s seriously cool. It’s from the same folks who made Octopath Traveler, so the HD-2D style is amazing. You play as Elliot, who can travel through time and see different versions of the same world – it’s a really neat concept. I’ve got this little fairy buddy, Galizio, who helps me solve puzzles and speed things up when I’m exploring. Honestly, it feels like a classic Zelda game – you’ve got a big overworld to roam, action happens in real-time, and there are dungeons to conquer. It’s a really fun experience so far!
In The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, players won’t be limited to just swords – they’ll also have access to weapons like bows and sickles, all of which can be improved as they play. The game is launching on PS5, and a demo will be available for those with a Switch 2. Regardless of how you play, the full game arrives in June. While it might not have the same over-the-top visuals as some other games, don’t underestimate The Adventures of Elliot – great things often come in smaller packages.
Echoes Of Aincrad
Sword Art Online Zero
Echoes of Aincrad is a game inspired by the Sword Art Online novels and anime series. It takes place before the events of the main story, letting players create characters and participate in beta testing for a virtual MMO. This testing period leads directly into the beginning of Sword Art Online, where players suddenly find themselves trapped inside the game with real-life consequences for dying. While the story is intense, fans enjoyed the original series’ thrilling action and emotional drama, and this game aims to capture that same experience.
In Echoes of Aincrad, players have extensive character customization options that go beyond just appearance. You can improve your character’s stats, unlock new skills as you progress, and even reset everything to start over. The game features a variety of weapons to craft and upgrade, and you can team up with a companion for dungeon crawls and exploring the world. While not fully open-world, the game’s exploration areas are comparable in size to those in Nioh 3, suggesting Echoes of Aincrad will be a large and expansive experience when it releases in July.
Beast Of Reincarnation
Ghost Of Okami
Beast of Reincarnation is Game Freak’s most ambitious project outside of the Pokemon series. It shares a lot with the game Okami, feeling like a spiritual successor, and this isn’t just because of the white wolf character. Players control Emma, a warrior who journeys across a decaying land with her wolf companion, Koo. By defeating enemies, Emma restores the environment, bringing nature back to life with each attack.
The game feels very open and allows for a lot of exploration. One of its most exciting features, beyond the team-up attacks between Emma and Koo, is Emma’s power to grow plants, similar to the character Poison Ivy. Players can use vines to build bridges or reach higher areas. This action RPG represents Game Freak’s most ambitious attempt to create something beyond the Pokemon series, and it appears to have the highest production quality of any of their games so far. Fans of Game Freak can expect Beast of Reincarnation to be released in August.
