It’s worth noting that a Verkle Tree provides a “structure that allows for much more compact proofs, making it possible for stateless validation of Ethereum blocks.

With this rule, it’s feasible for a validator to operate a node without holding the necessary amounts of funds. The estimated duration for verifying a node is anticipated to be “a handful of additional hundred milliseconds.” He envisions a time when running a node on a mobile device will be possible.

Essentially, Vitalik Buterin explained that the main aim of The Verge is to bring about a system where validation is done without needing a central authority, ensuring minimal storage demands and continuous advancement through the use of technologies such as SNARK and others.
