The Vow of the Dead King is a special halberd from Crimson Desert that fights like a spear, making it great for taking on groups of enemies. It comes with Abyss Gears that automatically add extra damage when fighting human-like creatures, large monsters, and powerful bosses. But getting this weapon is challenging – you’ll have to brave the icy lands of Pywel and fight your way through an enemy castle to obtain it.
Vow of the Dead King Location in Crimson Desert
You can find the Vow of the Dead King halberd in the Frostveiled Castle Ruins, located in the Pailune region of Crimson Desert. To get there, head southwest from Pailune City, following the road that goes through the Sanctum of Solace. Continue up the mountain, and you’ll eventually reach the ruins, which are guarded by bandits.
Defeating the bandits and reclaiming the Frostveiled Castle Ruins is not required to progress. Simply go under the ruins through the entrance shown in the image above.
When you go under the castle ruins in Crimson Desert, be careful as you follow the path to the Vow of the Dead King, watching out for traps. To get through the first part, simply perform a double jump and then glide across to the other side.
If your HP is high enough, you’ll be able to tank the spikes without any issues.
Eventually, players will reach a final room with two stone worms. While you don’t have to fight them, defeating them will reward you with two power cores, which are needed to craft Kuku weapons. After dealing with the worms (or avoiding them!), you’ll need to enter the cell on the right.
You can find a stone lantern nearby that, when lit, will unlock the cell next to it. Inside the cell, you’ll find the Vow of the Dead King halberd weapon inside a stone coffin in Crimson Desert.
As we’ve already covered, the Vow of the Dead King functions just like many of the spears found in Crimson Desert. It starts at tier two, offering good damage and a solid critical hit chance. What really sets it apart, though, is that its Abyss Gears give you a 4% damage increase when fighting human-like enemies, Walkers, and large, powerful monsters.
You can make the Vow of the Dead King even more powerful in battle by adding two Abyss Gears. These gears activate special abilities when you perform Turning Slashes (RB + RT on Xbox, R1 + R2 on PlayStation) or heavy attacks (RB/R2).
