In the realm of Oblivion Remastered, my character stats are usually clear-cut, but the Luck stat breaks that trend like no other. The game’s description for this stat doesn’t exactly provide the clarity I crave as a gamer, and the rest of the game follows suit in its lack of explanatory detail.
In the game Oblivion Remastered, choosing and enhancing your character’s stats matters greatly, including the Luck stat. If you’re debating whether or not to allocate points into this stat, here’s a quick rundown of its functions and potential benefits.
How Does Luck Work in Oblivion Remastered?
In the game “Oblivion Remastered,” it would be accurate to state that the Luck stat impacts any occurrence with a chance of happening. For instance, this includes the likelihood of Lockpicks failing, the probability of winning wagers in the Arena, and the chances of weapon effects activating, like the one from Mehrune’s Razor.
Luck is elusive and hard to define. In the game, it seems to make things generally go your way more frequently. This was a similar description in the earlier version of Oblivion, where players received an enhancement to their skills if they had more than 50 points of Luck.
In the initial version of the game, the bonus value for Luck was set at 40% of your Luck score, but only up to 50. If your Luck score was less than 50, it would instead result in a penalty, reducing other stats by 40% of the difference between 50 and your actual Luck score.
During our testing, it appears that the level of luck a player has directly influences the likelihood that a Repair Hammer will shatter after being used to fix an item. In the game interface, when a player has 100 Luck and 30 Armorer skill, they are told there is a Medium probability for a Repair Hammer to crack. Interestingly, as the luck level decreases to 1, while maintaining the same Armorer skill of 30, the chance of the hammer breaking increases from Medium to High. Surprisingly, this same transition from Medium to High likelihood also occurs at 99 Luck.
It’s important to mention that with 100 Armorers, Repair Hammers become indestructible, and this is clearly displayed on the Repair interface. Instead of the UI showing a range of probability for your hammer breaking, it will instead indicate that your hammers are Unbreakable.
If you possess 60 Armorer and 100 Luck, the UI tip will remain unaltered, continuing to indicate that your hammers have a possibility of shattering. This might imply two scenarios: either Luck doesn’t offer any additional points as it was said to in the original game, or it fails to activate perks that would typically be acquired by progressing a skill beyond a certain level.
As a gamer, I discovered that possessing just one Armorer and 100 Luck won’t grant you the ability to mend magical items, a perk typically accessible to players who have at least reached Level 25 in Armoring Skill. Even with maxed Luck, the probability of hammers shattering during repair was set to High, suggesting that the actual Armorer skill carries more significance when determining break chances.
99 Armorer and 1 Luck results in a low chance to break hammers.
In essence, while Luck does appear to hold some significance, I wouldn’t advise investing heavily in it beyond level 50. Its advantages are typically context-dependent and it’s generally more beneficial to focus on your character’s inherent abilities. However, Luck remains useful for skills that you don’t intend to enhance significantly.
