In the game “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2”, after Henry’s group is ambushed by bandits, he becomes separated from his faithful companions, Mutt and Pebbles. While Mutt can aid in combat, Pebbles serves as Henry’s primary mount, facilitating exploration. Regrettably, recovering her isn’t straightforward. The game eventually offers a free horse, but the option to reclaim Pebbles becomes available earlier in the game. However, before you can do so, you must first accomplish specific main missions to locate your missing steed.
How To Get Horses in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
There are four ways to get a horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2:
- Retrieve Pebbles
- Get Herring for free
- Steal a horse
- Buy a new horse
To collect Pebbles in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you must first accomplish several key tasks leading up to Semine. Following your departure from Hans, Henry has two options: he can either interact with the blacksmith or the miller. If he chooses to aid the blacksmith, eventually, the blacksmith will advise him to visit Semine. Once there, you’ll find Pebbles peacefully grazing on the grass in Semine.
It seems the outlaws had given the horse to Groom Ballatay at a cheap price, but he’s reluctant to let it go without some form of payment first. If your Speech skill is good enough, you might be able to persuade him to give Pebbles back to you. If not, you’ll likely have to pay him 160 coins, although there may be room for negotiation.
Despite Pebbles not being the top-tier horse in the game, she might be worth keeping. Her statistics place her among the poorest horses, but if you activate the “Good Old Pebbles” perk after leveling up your Horsemanship skill to 14, she will significantly improve.
During the “Back in the Saddle” mission, apart from Pebbles, you could acquire another steed for free. By successfully persuading Von Bergow that Hans is a nobleman, he’ll entrust you with a special task. Interestingly, Von Bergow turns out to be quite benevolent and bestows Henry with a new horse. Initially, Herring has better attributes than Pebbles, but I wouldn’t advise replacing your trusted steed right away.
How To Buy Horses
Here are two horses up for grabs at no cost. If you’re just starting out and need a mount, you might think about acquiring one informally. Do bear in mind that an unofficially obtained horse is only short-term. While you can ride it as much as you like, remember that you won’t be able to summon it if you choose to get rid of it.
If you wish to claim ownership of the stolen horse, you might need to locate trustworthy individuals who deal with horses, often referred to as “horse traders.” Remember, stealing a horse is a severe offense, and it’s crucial to avoid being apprehended. Alternatively, you could consider purchasing a new horse from these traders, but given that most novice players might not have ample coins for this expense, it may prove challenging.
