In Aphelion, Audiofiles and Datapads are key collectibles – one of three main types to find. Collecting them all helps players piece together the story of the Project Aphelion crew and uncover the truth about their mission. If you collect all 18, you’ll also earn the Bookworm achievement.

This guide will show you where to find every Audiofile and Datapad in Aphelion, helping you piece together the story of Project Aphelion. We’ll also explain how to check which chapters you’ve fully collected files from, and which ones still have hidden items.

How to Complete the Bookwork Achievement in Aphelion

In the game Aphelion, players can discover 18 collectible files – audio recordings and datapads – between Chapters 2 and 10. We’ve created a list of all 18, organized by when you find them in the game.

If you’re missing a collectible, finishing the game will unlock a chapter selection screen. This screen lets you check each chapter to see how many audio files and datapads it contains, and how many you’ve already collected.

Station’s Operations

Okay, so when I was heading to the Abandoned Station, I found this open area with an ice formation, but no extra oxygen. There was this little room blocked off, and to get to it, I had to quickly run along a ledge on the right side of the area. Luckily, there was an oxygen tank inside that room, which was a lifesaver!

You’ll find a desk in this area. To get the audio file, simply interact with it on the desk.

Project Aphelion — Phase 1 Review

Once you start Chapter 5, you’ll find yourself in the Outpost’s first room. Head to the back room and climb the ladder to reach the next floor. Then, turn around – you’ll see an Audiofile on a table in the kitchen.

Nemesis Sighting

Once you’ve fixed the rover at the Outpost, head to the Annex to continue your search for clues. To leave the main lab, you’ll go through a hallway leading outside. Keep an eye out for an Audiofile – it’s located on top of some boxes on the right side of this hallway.

Okay, so I just got into the Annex. To find the Datapad, I headed to the left side of the room. It’s sitting on the left side of the desk, kinda tucked between the corner and those two monitors on the far left. Easy peasy!

Okay, so I finally got to the base’s Locker Room. There’s a bunch of suits near a door marked “Airlock,” and that’s where I needed to go. I opened the Airlock door and headed across the room. I found the Audiofile hidden on a bookshelf – one of the ones blocking the way out, actually.

As soon as you enter the Crew Quarters, go through the first door on your left. Then, turn right and walk down the hallway until you see a door on the left with a “Dormitory” sign.

Go into the room and find the cabinet in the corner. You’ll find the Audiofile on the top right shelf inside.

Okay, so I found this Datapad in the base. You head into the Crew Quarters and go into the kitchen. It’s right there on the left side, near the fridge. Pretty easy to spot!

Marcus Macallan Incident

  • File Type: Audiofile
  • Chapter: “The Base”
  • Character: Thomas

Follow the trail of blood to Commander Leary’s door. On the left side of the hallway, you’ll find a door marked “Machinery.” Go through that door and walk to the back of the room. You’ll see a small room on your right, and the Audiofile will be on a desk near the entrance.

Malcom’s Ineptitude

You’ll get this audio file after you unlock Commander Leary’s quarters and investigate Marcus Macallan’s body. To unlock the quarters, you need the commander’s password. You can find a photo in Crew’s Quarters #02 that reveals the password – it’s the launch date, which is 020845.

After the chase in chapter six, you’ll find yourself in Greenhouse #01. Once inside, check the small room to your left – the Audiofile is on a desk at the very end.

Leave the first room of Greenhouse #01, and in the next room, turn left before going through the doorway. You’ll find a small room with a desk. The Audiofile is on top of the desk.

It Exists!

In Chapter 8, you’ll move through several rooms and eventually reach a Locker Room that has lost air pressure. First, connect your spacesuit to the oxygen tank just outside the Crew Quarters. Then, turn around and you’ll find an audio file on a table across the room, to the right of the door marked “Archives.”

If you follow the main path, you’ll reach the Archives. Along the way, you’ll have to crawl through a hallway filled with icy spikes. Once you’re through, the Datapad will be on top of the crates to your right.

Hey, You There?

Once inside the Archives, go straight into the next room to find an oxygen source. Before turning left to follow the blood trail, enter the room that’s directly ahead. You’ll discover the Audiofile on the right side of that room.

Once you’re inside the Archives and hooked up to an oxygen tank, go into the room on the left. You’ll find Commander Leary’s body there, and examining it will give you an audio file.

Once you find Commander Leary’s body, go down the stairs to reach the Medical Bay. Before you go inside, look to your right – you’ll find an Audiofile on a table nearby.

Malcom Spring and Frank Leary’s Last Exchange

  • Chapter: “Reunion”
  • Character: Ariane

You can find this audio file in Chapter 9, after you’ve entered the Base as Ariane. Go to the room containing Frank Leary’s body and look for a small table positioned behind and to the right of it. The audio file is located on the right side of that table.

Phaedra Duan’s Last Words

  • File Type: Audiofile
  • Chapter: “The Styx”
  • Character: Ariane

As you travel along the River Styx, you’ll find a broken rope leading to an opening. Follow the rope down and jump onto the nearby ledge. You’ll discover the Audiofile beside Phaedra Duan’s body.
