Who Is Nadeem Anjarwalla? Embattled Binance Executive Faces Extradition

Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive involved in a legal dispute with Nigeria’s government, was apprehended in Kenya intending to send him back to Nigeria for further proceedings.

Two men traveled to Nigeria to consult with officials about concerns surrounding Binance’s peer-to-peer platform and the local currency. Nigerian officials accused Binance of serving as an intermediary in the transfer of funds.

Months of legal turmoil ensued after the National Security Adviser’s Office arrested Nadeem Anjarwalla and his coworker.

Who is Nadeem Anjarwalla?

Nadeem holds British-Kenyan citizenship and manages Binance Africa. Prior to joining Binance, he was employed by Global Founders Capital and Uber Eats.

He earned a law degree from BPP Law School and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University. Additionally, he gained experience practicing law in Kenya while working towards enhancing web3 advancement in Africa.

At Anjarwalla & Khanna, a prominent commercial law company in East Africa, Nadeem honed his legal skills. The Kenyan Blockchain Association (BAK), an organization to which he belongs, advocated for his freedom following his detainment.

Possible Extradition To Nigeria 

Prior to Nigerian officials confirming an arrest warrant for Nadeem Anjarwalla, insiders from the Kenyan government revealed plans to collaborate with both local and international law enforcement teams to apprehend and transfer him to Nigeria.

Officials reported that he was found in Kenya, with Kenyan officials verifying his apprehension, albeit anonymously. Discussions are ongoing regarding the possibility of sending him back to Nigeria for trial on the accusations against him.

As we had said before that Anjarwalla would be extradited, he has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week,” the source noted.
