“Who’s Solana?”: Rapper Iggy Azalea Shows Interest in Crypto

As a researcher with a background in both music and technology, I find it intriguing to see the intersection of these two worlds, particularly when it comes to crypto-curiosity among celebrities. Iggy Azalea’s recent expression of interest in Solana is just one example of this trend.

Australian rap sensation Iggy Azalea has expressed her curiosity about cryptocurrencies, adding her name to the growing list of celebrities intrigued by this digital trend. On her X social media platform, she asked, “Who is Solana, I’m not familiar with that woman?” The 33-year-old hip-hop artist remains clueless about this specific crypto.

Within the cryptocurrency community on social media, the post sparked varying responses. Some users voiced apprehensions regarding possible false alarms.

In her rise to fame, Azalea teamed up with Charli XCX for the smash hit “Fancy,” which held the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US for seven consecutive weeks. Later that year, she graced Ariana Grande’s “Problem” to claim both top positions on the main American music chart simultaneously. In an impressive feat during 2014, Azalea managed to have three concurrent hits on the Billboard Hot 100: her collaboration with Rita Ora titled “Black Widow,” and the previously mentioned tracks.

“Azalea’s first release, titled ‘The New Classic,’ earned a Grammy nod and achieved platinum status in the United States.”

However, she made a strong comeback with the 2018 release of “Kream,” a collaboration with Tyga. Surprisingly, this song achieved platinum certification in the US, despite modest performance on international charts.

Azalea isn’t alone among hip-hop artists showing curiosity towards crypto this week. Rich the Kid, who collaborated with Kanye West on the hit track “Carnival,” announced plans to introduce his own token in the cryptocurrency world.
