As a seasoned researcher with over two decades of experience in the financial industry, I have witnessed countless trends and transformations. The crypto world, in particular, has been a fascinating journey to observe, especially from the sidelines of mainstream finance.
In the swift-moving crypto market, it’s surprising that Dogecoin (DOGE) hasn’t joined in one of its most lucrative developments – Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). Nate Geraci, president of the ETF Store, finds this perplexing. He believes not only is it a financial opportunity missed, but also a marketing oversight for those who are cautious about adopting the widely recognized meme coin.
A little over a year back, I witnessed a significant milestone in my crypto journey – the first Bitcoin ETF was approved, heralding a new chapter for digital currencies and integrating them into conventional investment portfolios. Not long afterward, Ethereum made its entrance, securing its position as the natural successor in the ETF sphere.
In simpler terms, Ethereum, being the second largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, seemed like an inevitable addition. However, the case of Dogecoin remains uncertain, despite its popularity in culture and strong fanbase.
It’s surprising that an ETF for Dogecoin hasn’t been proposed yet… What could be holding it back?

But there is still some momentum. Just a month ago, Valour listed the first Dogecoin exchange-traded product (ETP) on Sweden’s Spotlight exchange. While an ETP is not exactly the same as an ETF, this move shows that Dogecoin is slowly becoming legit in the investment world. But it is not clear if this will attract big investors.
DOGE ETF 2025?
Dogecoin holds an unusual position within the crypto market. Originating as a humorous concept, it has since seen significant growth and has become one of the most recognized digital currencies. Its brand recognition matches that of many more technologically-driven counterparts; however, unlike some of these, it hasn’t yet led to the creation of formal investment products such as ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds).
Could we see a Dogecoin ETF in the future, maybe by 2025?
This question is becoming more important as the whole crypto ETF space changes. Geraci and others are pointing out that it is strange that there is not a DOGE ETF, given that the industry often talks about being innovative and prepared for the market.
