So, here’s the deal: Steve McClurg, CEO of Canary Capital-yes, that guy who probably has a Canary-themed office because why not?-thinks an XRP spot ETF could pull in $5 billion during its first month. That’s right, BILLION with a “B.” It’s like when your cousin says they’re going to win the lottery, except this time people might actually believe him.
During what I imagine was a very serious Friday interview (complete with coffee stains on his tie), McClurg dropped some truth bombs about how XRP could outshine Ethereum ETFs. Poor Ethereum. Remember January 2024, when Bitcoin ETFs brought in $1.5 billion? By February, that number climbed to $3.3 billion. But Ethereum? Oh no, it’s been shedding money faster than my hairline recedes. Outflows hit $480 million in July 2024, followed by another $5.6 million loss in August. Oof.
“XRP ETF can do $5 BILLION in the first month and outperform ETH,” McClurg boldly declared. Boldly or delusionally? You decide.

Here’s where things get spicy. McClurg claims that Grayscale’s Ethereum Trust (ETHE) is hemorrhaging cash while XRP struts into the spotlight like it owns the place. Apparently, after Bitcoin, XRP is the Beyoncé of tokens among Wall Street elites. And let’s not forget the “XRP Army,” those die-hard fans ready to storm any financial fortress armed with memes and enthusiasm. If loyalty had a stock ticker symbol, it would be $XRPARMY.
Oh, and guess what? Analysts are now saying there’s an 85% chance we’ll see an XRP ETF launch in 2025. Up from 80%. Groundbreaking stuff, I know. Meanwhile, McClurg casually mentions that Solana, Litecoin, and HBAR might also snag ETF approval before New Year’s Eve. Because why stop at one crypto carnival ride?

But wait! There’s more! McClurg insists XRP has something Ethereum doesn’t: a straightforward connection to payments and cross-border settlements. Unlike Ethereum, which is all tangled up in smart contracts and decentralized apps (whatever those are), XRP apparently speaks Wall Street’s language fluently. Payments? Cross-border transactions? These are concepts even hedge fund managers can wrap their heads around without needing three PhDs.
In conclusion, if McClurg is correct-and he usually is unless he isn’t-we might witness the rise of XRP as the belle of the ETF ball. Or maybe it’ll crash and burn like every other overhyped trend since fidget spinners. Either way, buckle up, folks. This rollercoaster promises high stakes, higher emotions, and possibly someone yelling, “I told you so!” in 2026. 🎢📈
