series.
As a long-time enthusiast of the Legend of Zelda series, I must say that the prospect of Zelda stepping into the limelight as the main protagonist in “Echoes of Wisdom” is nothing short of exhilarating! With her extensive knowledge of Hyrule’s history and villains, coupled with her impressive leadership skills, she is undoubtedly well-equipped to guide our beloved kingdom through turbulent times.
In the series known as “The Legend of Zelda,” though the title suggests Zelda is the central character, she hasn’t been a fully playable protagonist since its launch in 1986. Games like “Spirit Tracks” and “Hyrule Warriors” have occasionally allowed players to control Zelda, but the main storyline has yet to put her at the forefront.
Fans were taken aback when Nintendo Direct revealed “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” in June, a game where Princess Zelda takes charge as the main character. This upcoming top-down “Zelda” game, scheduled for release in September 2024, promises to showcase Zelda as the ideal heroine.
6 New Abilities
Conjuring Echoes
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming addition to the beloved Legend of Zelda series, Echoes of Wisdom. This game promises to break new ground by granting Zelda an entirely unique ability – the power to create echoes!
Employing the enchanted Tri-Force staff, Zelda can summon replicas of in-game characters for assistance during fights and expeditions. The official trailer unveils instances where she summons items like tables to scale walls, rocks for attacking adversaries, and even beds for creating bridges. This innovative gaming mechanic is expected to revolutionize the exploration of Hyrule, as Zelda assumes command over the Tri-Force staff.
5 A Female Protagonist Is Overdue
Putting A Female At The Center Of A Major Nintendo Franchise
To date, the main character in The Legend of Zelda series, initially introduced in 1986, has always been a male named Link, who fights against villains like Ganondorf and other major opponents. So far, no female character has taken on this leading role within the franchise.
Contrastingly, Zelda hasn’t had her moment in the limelight much. The game Echoes of Wisdom presents an ideal chance to place a female character as the main protagonist in a Nintendo franchise that has traditionally been dominated by male leads. Additionally, featuring Zelda will bring variety to the gameplay, introducing a new perspective on the series’ traditional sword combat and mechanics – something that has been eagerly anticipated for quite some time.
4 New Story And Lore
Original Narratives And Relationships
In addition to Zelda being the initial female lead in the game series, she will take center stage in the storyline of “Echoes of Wisdom,” opening up intriguing and distinct possibilities for compelling narratives. Unlike the traditional Zelda games where Link often rescues Princess Zelda, “Echoes of Wisdom” reverses this narrative, with Zelda being the one who saves Link this time.
The game poses the question of how and why Link gets captured, and what role he might play with the game’s primary adversary. Is Zelda set to battle the longstanding series antagonist Ganondorf again? Or will there be a fresh villain for Zelda to conquer? Introducing Zelda as the main character opens up new storytelling possibilities, enriching the mythos and backstory between the series’ principal figures in previously uncharted ways.
3 Zelda Can Improve On Link’s Weaknesses
Enhanced Core Mechanics Like Jumping And Swimming
Enthusiasts adore the courageous main character, Link, from The Legend of Zelda series, yet he possesses some bothersome drawbacks that have frustrated players for years. Among these disadvantages are Link’s inability to swim and his poor jumping skills. By rebooting the storyline with Zelda, there lies a chance to address and improve upon these shortcomings.
As a dedicated gamer, I can only hope that Nintendo considers revamping Link’s vulnerability towards those pesky Cuckoos in future games. It’s a long shot, but here’s hoping! And let’s cross our fingers that Zelda might be able to handle chickens a little better next time around.
2 Zelda Is A Better Communicator
Mobilizing Armies Against Evil
In the game “Echoes of Wisdom,” there’s speculation about whether Link or Princess Zelda will have more engaging dialogue. However, it’s generally accepted that Zelda communicates much more effectively than Link.
In the popular video games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, she displays remarkable leadership qualities and communication skills, which make her an ideal ruler for Hyrule. Her ability to rally allies against the villain, Ganondorf, showcases her strong and competent leadership capabilities.
1 Zelda Knows Best
Expert Knowledge Of History And Villains
During Link’s absences as he handles the Cuckoos, Zelda often interacts extensively with the recurring antagonists of the series, a result of frequent captures. With an intimate understanding of the series’ villains, gained from these encounters, Zelda possesses a significant edge when it comes to defeating them.
With her exceptional combat skills as a formidable warrior, deep insight into the lore of Hyrule, and distinguished track record as a princess, Zelda is an ideal candidate to continue the hero’s quest in place of Link.
