Wild Assault Early Access: Join 20v20 Furry Tactical Shooters Taking Steam by Storm!

Crafted by Combat Cat Studio, a tight-knit Chinese collective of roughly 20 companions, Wild Assault is now accessible in its early stages on Steam. This game offers an exceptional twist on tactical hero shooters, featuring epic 20 versus 20 player vs player battles involving anthropomorphic characters known as Valiants. Built using Unreal Engine 5 and subjected to multiple successful public trials throughout 2024, Wild Assault was also showcased during the Steam Next Fest in October of the previous year, garnering a great deal of praise from the gaming community.

What Makes Wild Assault Stand Out?

Primarily, the charming characters in Wild Assault, each with a furry theme, not only captivate visually but also their abilities are derived from animal instincts, depending on your chosen class. The available classes include assault, expert, medic, and marksman, with the game placing importance on teamwork and synchronization.

In this game, the battlefield dwarfs those typically found in other tactical shooting games, accommodating as many as 20 players per team. At the moment, it’s still in early access but offers an engaging third-person hero shooter experience with a roster of 10 characters, 30 weapons, and multiple game modes such as two and three maps. These expansive maps feature both indoor and outdoor zones, providing ample space for strategic planning. To enhance player interaction, the game includes a skill system, a gun customization system, and scheduled seasons known as ‘game seasons’ for Wild Assault.

A number of the characters exhibit four-legged locomotion, a feature that some players find intriguing and enhances the enjoyment of playing with anthropomorphic creatures.

2024 saw Wild Assault undergo its Alpha, Beta, and Gamma testing stages. Players found appeal in its concept, characters, and abilities. Last year, Twitch streamer and YouTube personality Asmongold discovered the game and appeared to enjoy it, streaming the WA Conquest game mode on his channel.

Ever since its early release, well-known streamers such as Emiru and Sodapoppin have been playing it, which propelled the game to become the 11th most viewed game at its height. It currently holds a “Mostly positive” rating on Steam with over 930 total reviews (at the time of writing). This indie game has captured the interest of top-tier streamers, prominent furry virtual streamers, and key figures from the shooter community who find its unique mechanics appealing. The positive reception from the gaming community signifies a significant milestone for Wild Assault, highlighting the potential of the game and the dedication of the small team behind it.

According to Combat Cat Studios, the game will remain in its early access phase for approximately one to two years. During this period, the game will undergo quarterly improvements based on community input and technical assessments. As of now, there is no set release date, but it’s scheduled to launch sometime between Q2 and Q3 2026. Players can share their suggestions directly with the developers through an in-game feedback function, in addition to feedback from the broader community.

You can get early access to the game by paying a fee, but the cost is less than what it’ll eventually be when the entire game launches. Currently, the standard game costs $13.49 (originally priced at $14.99), but there’s also a Wild Assault Supporter Edition bundle that includes the Zhenshan Interstellar Pack (Zhenshen Valiant + extras) for $20.50, down from its regular price of $21.59. This bundle allows players to unlock all basic Valiants and weapons for free, which will then be permanently available. When the game fully releases, it will feature enhanced social functions, better Valiant interaction experiences, Valiant customization options, and additional content.
