Wit Studio’s The One Piece Remake Officially Announces First Look Reveal Date

One Piece is the best-selling manga globally, with over 600 million copies sold, making it the all-time best-selling comic book. Given its incredible popularity, it’s no surprise that numerous projects are constantly in development. Alongside the ongoing Toei anime series, a brand new anime adaptation is also being created. This remake, produced by WIT Studio, is set to premiere in 2027 and promises to be a huge event. Fans will get their first preview of the new anime at the Annecy International Film Festival.

The One Piece Remake By WIT Studio Will Show New Content At The Annecy International Animation Film Festival

The One Piece anime has been consistently produced by Toei Animation since 1999 and currently has over 1100 episodes, with more still being made. In addition to the long-running Toei version, a new anime adaptation of One Piece is also available, created by WIT Studio and simply titled “The One Piece.”

The live-action One Piece remake was first revealed at Jump Festa 2024, but details have been scarce since then. Following a confirmed release window of May 7, 2026, Netflix has announced that new information will be coming soon. Fans will get their first look at the remake—produced by Wit Studio and Netflix—at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, a major animation event taking place June 21-27, 2026, in France. While the remake won’t have its own dedicated presentation, it will be part of Netflix’s overall lineup at the festival. Expect to see either a trailer or a teaser, along with updates on how the series is being made.

Why The Annecy International Animation Film Festival Will Be The Biggest Day For The Fans Of The Series

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is a big deal for One Piece for a couple of key reasons. Firstly, it’s expected to share a lot of new details about the highly anticipated animated series, which has been in development for nearly three years. Secondly, it will help expand One Piece‘s popularity around the world. Anime often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves at international award shows – typically, only Studio Ghibli films are featured at major events like the Oscars. Even Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, despite its huge success, was overlooked.

One Piece being showcased at the world’s largest animation festival is huge news, both for fans of the series and for the anime industry as a whole. It’s a clear sign that anime is gaining more recognition worldwide. This appearance sets an important new standard and highlights the incredible scale of the upcoming project by WIT Studio.

Everything We Know So Far About One Piece’s Anime Remake By WIT Studio And Netflix

Fans are excited for June, when more details about the upcoming One Piece remake will be released. This month has already brought a lot of news about the project, which was first announced in December 2023 at Jump Festa 2024. The remake is being created by many of the same talented people who worked on the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, including director Masashi Koizuka. Kyouji Sabo will be designing the characters.

The first season of the One Piece anime remake will have 7 episodes, but don’t let that number fool you! Each episode will be about 42 minutes long – nearly twice the length of a typical anime episode – giving you around 300 minutes of content, which is similar to watching 14 regular episodes. The show will cover 7 chapters of the manga per episode, ensuring a well-paced story. The remake is scheduled to premiere in February 2027, although the specific date hasn’t been announced yet. A new visual has been released, and even more exciting details will be shared in June at an upcoming film festival.
