As an avid gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Xbox’s 2024 and 2025 lineup is looking more promising than ever! From the return of beloved franchises like Call of Duty and Fable to exciting new entries like Avowed and South of Midnight, there’s something for everyone.
Microsoft’s gaming division, Xbox, has unveiled a schedule for their upcoming first-party games and expansions set to launch towards the end of 2024, along with titles planned for release in 2025. However, there are some worries within the Xbox community about the company releasing more of its games on rival platforms and a downward trend in hardware sales. Despite these concerns, Xbox remains active in purchasing new game development studios and investing substantially in the creation of new games.
In the past few years, Xbox’s strategic purchases and funding have proven beneficial, ensuring top-tier exclusive content under their green banner. As we approach 2024, Xbox aims to maintain this success, unveiling a plan detailing upcoming original Xbox titles.
The upcoming Xbox exclusive games, as outlined in the latest plan, kick off with an expansion for “World of Warcraft” titled “The War Within,” due on August 26. Following closely is “Age of Mythology: Retold,” available from September 4, then “Ara: History Untold” on September 24, “Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred” on October 8, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” on October 25, and “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” on November 19. “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” and “Towerborne” are slated for 2024 but lack specific release dates as of now.

As a dedicated gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming lineup of day one Xbox Game Pass releases has me absolutely thrilled! From the epic adventures of Indiana Jones in “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” to the dark and intense world of “Doom: The Dark Ages”, there’s something for every type of gamer.
Regarding the gaming calendar for 2025, Xbox players can anticipate “Avowed” on February 18th, while “South of Midnight,” “Doom: The Dark Ages,” and “Fable” have tentative release dates in the following year. Interestingly, “Avowed,” “South of Midnight,” and “Fable” are expected to be exclusive to Xbox consoles, contrasting with “Doom: The Dark Ages,” which will be available across multiple platforms.
As a gamer, I’m super excited about the lineup that Xbox has shared in their roadmap! Mostly, it’s packed with full-length games like never before. But there are also some exciting expansions on the horizon, such as “The War Within”, “Shattered Space”, and “Vessel of Hatred”. While a lot of the games from the roadmap will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day, these expansions will require a separate purchase if I want to dive into them.
