Xbox’s New Boot Up Screen is Coming on May 13

Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, announced that all Xbox consoles will get a fresh boot-up screen on May 13th. The update will feature the familiar Xbox green logo, now accompanied by a classic startup sound.

Many may remember that Sharma first showed off the new Xbox logo back in April. It’s a change from the simple black and white logo introduced with the original Xbox One, which wasn’t popular with everyone. Good news for players: you won’t have to wait for the next Xbox (currently known as Project Helix) to see the updated logo – it’s coming soon!

New Xbox Boot-Up Screen

I’m so hyped! Sharma just announced on Twitter that we’re getting a new Xbox boot-up logo on May 13th! It sounds like it’ll roll out with an update, so the next time I turn on my Xbox on that day, it might be the last time I see the old startup screen. From what I’ve heard, it’s a brighter, more vibrant green with a classic animation and a really familiar sound – honestly, the sound is a little loud, but in a good way, it feels intentional! Sharma is really leaning into bringing back the golden age of Xbox, and it’s awesome to see them paying attention to even the little details like this boot-up sequence.

So far, people are responding well to Sharma’s leadership. Taking over from Phil Spencer was always going to be challenging, but she’s quickly built positive feelings towards Xbox. The new startup screen is a small but impactful change signaling a fresh start. She’s also made Xbox Game Pass more affordable, which is great for players, especially with the current economic climate, and has made several other positive changes to how the company communicates. However, it’s important to remember she’s a business executive, and many of these actions are simply part of her role in improving the company’s image.

Honestly, I’m still trying to figure out how all this will shake out for Xbox in the long run. They’ve got a ton of studios now, and with Microsoft pouring money into AI, it’s a bit of a wild time. That decision to pull Copilot from consoles? It feels like a smart move by the CEO, honestly. But it is weird timing, especially since they just brought on five people Sharma used to work with – four of them were on the CoreAI team. She thinks they’ll help Xbox get games out faster and with better quality, which is great. I think we should give them a chance to gel as a team, especially since Sharma’s background is in AI too. So far, the good stuff definitely outweighs the bad, and I’m cautiously optimistic about where things are headed.

As a huge Xbox fan, I’m really watching what Sharma does right now. She’s wrapping up the current Xbox Series X/S and getting ready to launch the next generation – the Xbox Helix! With big games like Forza Horizon 6 and the new Fable on the horizon, it’s an exciting time. Honestly, it’ll be interesting to see how people remember her time leading Xbox once everything is said and done.
