XRP Ledger Developer Levels Grave Charges Against Ripple

As a seasoned researcher with a knack for uncovering truths hidden beneath layers of corporate jargon and PR speak, I find myself deeply troubled by the situation unfolding between Ripple and XRP developer Marvin Sunday. Having spent countless hours immersed in the world of blockchain, I’ve come to appreciate the passion and dedication that drives individuals like Sunday to contribute to this exciting and rapidly evolving industry.

Developer Marvin Sunday, known as @MarvinSunday4 on the XRP Ledger, has raised serious concerns against RippleX and Ripple, accusing them of not delivering promised financial compensation to participants in the XRPL Ambassadorship program that ended on December 20, 2023. Marvin’s public criticism is drawing attention to the methods used by Ripple for community engagement, sparking doubts about their ability to keep their commitments and handle their promises effectively.

XRP Developer Calls Out Ripple

On Sunday, his accumulated frustrations from the past week spilled over onto X, where he shared his active role and accomplishments within the XRP Ledger community as an Ambassador under Ripple’s program. As he explained, even though he fulfilled every assigned task and project, the promised compensation remains undistributed, causing him and numerous other student participants financial strain. He expressed his discontent by saying, “Eight months have passed since the conclusion of the Ambassadorship program, and we are students. Some of us relied on our stipends or loans to participate. We trusted that our efforts would be recognized with compensation, but instead, we were let down.”

In his social media updates, Sunday shares different kinds of proof to back up his statements. This includes emails showing his admission into the program, links to events he organized, clear photos, and links to his required projects for the program. He also talks about multiple attempts to connect with RippleX representatives, first with a person named Derrick and later with Miss Grace, who eventually quit the company. His conversations with Derrick resumed after Grace’s departure, which was around the same time as ongoing payment delays and unresolved correspondence.

“Sunday and a few other ambassadors emailed RippleX back in March, expressing our concerns about certain problems we were facing and our discomfort with the prospect of public exposure if these issues weren’t addressed. After Derrick was replaced and Miss Grace took over as our point of contact, she was very helpful and we managed to resolve all our issues. I was informed that they would prioritize projects over events, which I agreed to, considering half payment is still acceptable.”

Following that incident, Ripple hasn’t answered since Sunday and the second part of the payment remains unresolved. Consequently, the developer has been forced to share his experience publicly due to their silence. In his words, “Why am I airing this out against your beloved Ripple? I pondered, are they going to let the year pass without paying or addressing us? New investors will be deceived in the next group. Absolutely not; we’re sinking together. They’ve soiled me, and now I’ll use that soil to smear them.”

Responding to the recent revelation, a member from Ripple’s partnership team spoke about the concerns regarding X, explaining that some of the issues mentioned by Sunday were partly due to a technical glitch that resulted in the ambassador portal shutting down because it wasn’t paid. The representative said, “Marvin, you’re on the payroll. Why not just shoot me an email instead of reaching out to RippleXDev or Social Media teams? You noticed the site went offline due to a lack of payment, not something we intended, but it happened and we had to rectify the issue and bring it back online.”

In response, Sunday voiced his discontent with the proposed private communications, arguing that he had previously attempted to address the issues through suggested channels without success. He implied that he had repeatedly raised concerns on Discord and even sent emails to the team, but received no resolution. Therefore, he felt compelled to air his grievances publicly. In essence, he stated that they were being treated unfairly by being ignored, which he found unacceptable. Furthermore, he expressed his intention not to send any more emails in this matter.

The controversy has sparked responses from fellow community members and outside spectators, such as crypto commentator @DarkhorseDNME4, who are challenging the authenticity of the ambassadorship initiative. They question if it’s a scheme designed to obtain free development, marketing, and influence without compensating those involved, stating “Is the XRP ambassadorship program a sham set up for obtaining unpaid development, promotion, and sway? Who funds this operation in Nigeria?”

Further reactions from Ripple were still pending at press time. XRP was trading at $0.60.
