XRP Ledger Ships 2 Major Updates Ahead of RLUSD Launch

As a seasoned researcher with a penchant for blockchain technology and digital currencies, I’ve followed the evolution of XRP Ledger (XRPL) with great interest. The recent updates to the protocol, particularly the enabling of “fixPreviousTxnID” and “fixEmptyDID,” are not just technical advancements but essential steps towards addressing real-world challenges faced by dApp developers and AMMs on the network.

The XRPL, or XRP Ledger, is currently experiencing several upgrades. In its most recent version, the underlying protocol has introduced two significant modifications featuring innovative solutions. Furthermore, there’s anticipation for the debut of Ripple‘s stablecoin, named RLUSD.

New XRP Ledger updates

As a crypto investor, I’ve noticed that the powerful XRPL explorer, XRPScan, has announced the activation of the “fixPreviousTxnID” and “fixEmptyDID” features on the mainnet. This means more streamlined transactions for me and other users on the network.

The proposed change to the fixPreviousTxnID will specifically deal with modifying transaction entries within a ledger. This is crucial for understanding the incorporation of updates in a rapidly evolving Automated Market Maker (AMM) and Ledger Decentralized Application (dApp). This amendment managed to secure 28 out of 35 consensus votes, representing an impressive 88.57% agreement.

On the XRP Ledger mainnet, Amendments “Amendments fixPreviousTxnID” and “fixEmptyDID” have been activated. The former adjusts the functionality of ledger objects, while the latter prepares for future DID (Decentralized Identifier) support.— XRPScan (@xrpscan) September 27, 2024

Ensuring that the fixEmptyDID is in place is essential because it helps avoid the creation of blank entries in the DID ledger by providing an extra verification step. Ideally, this feature enables users and developers to quickly identify and correct empty transaction records within the XRP Ledger.

Over the past few months, XRP Ledger has released unique updates to address key network challenges. The fix for the XRP Ledger Full History Servers issue was recently merged in an official rippled release of the XRPLF Repository — rippled 2.2.3.

These upgrades are part of the evolution of XRPL and will greatly enhance the RLUSD launch ahead.

Ripple stablecoin — right pegs in right holes

To secure a strong foundation for their stablecoin, Ripple Developers are making certain that everything is properly aligned and fitted correctly before the launch of RLUSD.

So far, Ripple has been ramping up testing of its new token by creating and destroying it on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum network. Although the exact launch date for the stablecoin is undetermined, with the growing focus on XRPL, it seems that the company is gearing up for the release of their stablecoin.

Once fully operational, the RLUSD token is expected to immediately benefit from sophisticated features designed for a prosperous debut.
