Okay, so Ripple‘s been on a bit of a shopping spree, right? Acquisitions left and right, all very “bridging traditional finance and crypto.” Soundsā¦ambitious.
But (and isn’t there always a ‘but’?), there’s this nagging little thought. Like, what actually happens with XRP in all this? Is it justā¦hanging around? š¬ It feels a bit like inviting your slightly awkward cousin to a really fancy party.
Growth Outpaces Token Utility
They’ve bought Hidden Road, GTreasury⦠very impressive. A definite expansion into the world of actual, grown-up financial infrastructure. For corporate types who like, you know, actual money. Which, let’s be honest, doesn’t really involve much XRP. š¤·āāļø
Turns out, all this fancy expansion doesn’t automatically make XRP more useful. Itās like buying a really expensive blender but only ever making smoothies. Kinda defeats the purpose, doesnāt it?
The frst question to even ask is:
How does the XRP token become more valuable from any of this?
The circled part is the focus of what Ripple Prime is being used for: “Enhancing the utility and reach of Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD.”
1. RLUSD is 90% issued on Ethereum, whichā¦

People are starting to notice this. Analysts, investorsā¦even your Aunt Mildred probably has an opinion on it. Is Rippleās big plan actuallyā¦good for XRP? Itās a legitimate question, okay?
Financial Dependence Conflicts With XRP Roadmap
Ripple still kinda relies on selling XRP to pay the bills. Itās like, theyāve got this grand vision of XRP being the amazing bridge currency, the settlement fuel⦠but they’re still funding the whole thing by, well, selling the bridgeās building materials. š
For years we were told XRP would be the future, and now…? Itās a bit like promising a self-driving car and then being stuck in the backseat with a particularly anxious driver.
Take RLUSD, Rippleās stablecoin. Supposed to be a big deal, right? Wrong. Mostly lives on Ethereum. Ethereum. It’s like building a chalet in Switzerland and then going on holiday to Spain.
You’d think more RLUSD would mean more demand for XRP⦠but no. The fees are tiny, and most things happen elsewhere. It’s all a bitā¦disjointed.
So Ripple’s expanding, XRP’sā¦not really. Itās a strategic tension, they call it. I call it awkward. š„“
XRP Buyback Raises Fresh Questions
And then they announced they want to raise a billion dollars worth of XRP to create a digital asset treasury. A billion! That’s…a lot of XRP. Itās like a company declaring its undying love for its own product byā¦buying all remaining stock. A bit desperate, maybe?
Some people think it shows confidence. Others think it feels suspiciously like artificially propping up the price. It’s a fine line, isnāt it? Between āsavvy financial strategyā and āslightly frantic clutching at straws.ā š¤·
Ultimately, it circles back to the same problem. Rippleās charging forward, but XRPās kinda⦠lagging behind. It’s a bit like going to a rave with your grandpa. He’s happy for you, but he’s not exactly participating.
