XRPL Validators, Heed Ye This Call to Arms!

A solemn call to action rings out for the brave souls known as XRP Ledger nodes and validators. Lo and behold, the UNL migration to the new XRPL Foundation has begun its course!

Fear not, for the Unique Node List (UNL) will transition from the old XRPL Foundation to the shiny, new one. But hark! Validators must update their settings by March 10, 2025, lest they be left out in the cold, participantless night.

Take heed, good validators and node operators! Fret not about the old UNL, for it will be but a distant memory. ‘Tis time to embrace the new foundation’s infrastructure with open arms.

The stage has been set, with the new XRPL Foundation’s incorporation in France and the Founding Members (XRPL Commons, XRPL Labs, Ripple and XAO DAO) eagerly awaiting their next steps.

Forsooth, the XRPL Foundation has played a significant role in the XRPL’s security and decentralization, providing a trusted UNL for all to rely upon.

But why, pray tell, shouldst thou care?

The XRP Ledger network, in its infinite wisdom, allows each participant to choose their UNL, either directly or indirectly. ‘Tis a list of validators that each participant trusts not to conspire against them.

With great power comes great responsibility! Each server operator must choose a reliable UNL, often based on a default setting provided by a trusted publisher. Alas, the current XRPL Foundation and Ripple are esteemed publishers of such trusted lists.

So, gather round, noble validators and node operators! If thou reliest on the old UNL list, an upgrade may be in order to keep the network secure, up-to-date, and running smoothly.
