Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny

The adventure commences in Yagyu Village, where our hero, Jubei Yagyu, resides. Despite being ravaged by Nobunaga’s horde of monstrous soldiers, it’s advisable to delve deep into the village ruins before obtaining your initial Oni Weapon and venturing forth to Imasho, the mining town. The following video showcases every collectible in the village, while this guide will also discuss each item individually, explaining how they can be utilized across the game.

In the game ‘Onimusha 2’, during your initial visit to Yagyu Village, collecting the Oni Weapon “Buraito” (the lightning blade) from the Dragon Statue will conclude your trip automatically. While it’s tempting to delay grabbing this powerful weapon to explore more of the village, doing so will reward you with a treasure trove of useful items. Yagyu Village is brimming with gift items that can be presented to allies later in the game, affecting their perception of Jubei and determining which allies will join you at crucial moments. Additionally, you may discover an item that boosts your health permanently.

Yagyu Village Map

After your initial clash with an adversary, you’ll stumble upon the Yagyu Village Map. As you heed a guiding voice, you’ll eventually come across a bridge adjoining a red chest. The map is hidden inside this treasure trove. You can view or use the map by navigating to your inventory or pressing R3. Upon scrutinizing the map, you’ll notice that a house located behind a shattered gate at the start of the village is accessible. However, Jubei will decline to enter until you’ve explored the source of that voice, so it’s important to address that matter first before searching for items in the house.

Herb

Upon reaching The Pond and discovering an open cave ahead, glance to your left at your point of entry. There, you’ll spot a treasure chest hiding a healing herb. Consuming this herb can replenish some of your health, proving beneficial during tougher battles.

Frog (Gift Item)

To find the Frog, move through the location as usual until you come across a pond with stepping stones that lead to a Tori Gate (as shown). In this area, you’ll spot a frog hopping about on the ground. You can collect it by interacting with it. This item can be shared with your allies, and they may change their view of you favorably. In exchange, you’ll receive a selection of helpful items.

Charity Orb & Play Instructions

After chatting with Takajo, you’ll receive two crucial items: The Charity Orb and the Play Instructions. The Charity Orb is one of five orbs that Jubei needs to gather during the game. On the other hand, the Play Instructions serve as an in-game guide, explaining various essential game mechanics. You can access this guide by selecting it from your inventory, and it will open automatically when you first obtain it.

Herb 2

After conversing with Takajo, you’ll discover another Healing herb hidden inside the nearby chest within the room. Earlier I mentioned that these Herbs serve as valuable healing items, restoring a significant portion of your health when consumed. Thus, collecting them whenever you can proves to be quite beneficial.

Abacus (Gift Item)

To find the Abacus, retrace your steps to the damaged gate at the start of the zone and interact with it. This will allow you entry into Jubei’s residence. The Abacus can be found by moving forward immediately after entering the building and using an attack to bust through a door, uncovering a chest. Later in the game, this item can be given to your allies as a gift, which may change their opinion of you favorably and yield rewards.

Kaleidoscope (Gift Item)

The Kaleidoscope is located a short distance away, right next to the Abacus, in a cabinet found immediately upon entering the initial room. This intriguing trinket could serve as a future token of appreciation for your associates, potentially swaying their perception of you.

Artwork #10

Artwork number 10 is located on a shelf in the adjoining room, past where the Kaleidoscope chest resides. Approach the shelf and engage with it to pick up the item that’s now stored in your inventory, accessible whenever you want for viewing within your art book.

Four Guardians: Right

To uncover the initial part of the Four Guardians image, follow the path down after acquiring Artwork #10, then carefully cut into the wall painting to expose a concealed item located within an alcove behind it. Once you’ve gathered both halves, you can examine the picture in your inventory, but remember that the other half is stashed somewhere else in the village, so finding it won’t take too much time.

Fork (Gift Item)

To obtain the following item, proceed by passing through the door depicted in the initial image above, then navigate your way towards the chest concealed behind a destructible barrel. Inside this chest, you’ll find “The Fork”, an item that enables you to sway the opinions of your allies and earn reward items from them when used.

Something for Later

Venturing higher and deeper within this structure, you’ll come across a room similar to the one depicted earlier. A peculiar cabinet catches the eye, but alas, the key to unlock it lies hidden deep within the game’s progression. For now, during your initial exploration of Yagyu Village, it’s best to pass by this intriguing artifact undisturbed.

Wasabi (Gift Item)

To obtain the Wasabi, make your way from the specified room and proceed to the opposite end of the building’s exterior (refer to image 2 for guidance). You’ll find it by interacting with a spot located between the two fences. This is an additional item you can share with your allies.

Four Guardians: Left

In the same structure as before, you’ll discover the second part of the picture we mentioned previously, tucked within the building. To access it, look for the entrance close to where you discovered the Wasabi. Inside this building, you’ll find a red chest where the missing piece is hidden. Collecting the correct half earlier will allow you to complete the Four Guardians picture. Once completed, you can view the image freely in your inventory at any time.

Oolong Tea (Gift)

The Oolong Tea is stored in a different red chest, situated in the adjacent room to where the Four Guardians: Left statue was discovered. This serves as an additional gift option for your companions, which may sway their views towards Jubei and earn you valuable items from them.

Power Jewel (Health Increase)

The Power Gem is an object that boosts your health permanently upon use, and it’s located at the end of the corridor where you initially entered the building, tucked away inside a riddle-locked chest. To unlock this chest, arrange the images on the puzzle by moving the tiles as indicated (using the arrows shown in image 2 above) according to the sequence we’ve marked.
